No, you're right, it's all about the quality of pictures it takes. Have you used one? If not, how can you know how good it will be?

No, 32GB is not 'more than enough' for anything claiming to be a music device. That's why the same manufacturer offers 64GB and 120GB music devices and why almost every other manufacturer of digital music devices offers expanable memory.

And it's also why I suspect the same manufacturer will very shortly launch a 64GB phone.

It does have a flash, which can also be used with video.

Well the battery life lasts a while according to apples specs... Plus due to the fact they're none removable they tend to be durable as well.. I've still got my original iphone and with average use it only needs charging once ever 3 days ish and its 3 years old..!!!

Fifer, they demonstrated pics at the keynote but yes we will see when it comes out Once again notoriously apples camera quality exceeds competitors using the same MP so I don't expect it to be worse than competitors 8mp cameras but we'll see when it's released

fletcher, it won't be more expensive than the 3GS so going on the current prices thats not far off

Jesus thats almost a 1000 quid for something that by this time next year will be superseded by the same firm never mind all the other companies that produce smartphones (especially HTC who seem to be upping their game)

I will just give my simple view on why I like this phone and why I am getting one, this is a statement and therefore requires no answers,
1) On checking my iPod touch I find I need about 20gb max to gett all the tunes and audio books I need and about 10gb for films the rest could be for apps etc so 32gb is more than enough for ME, it matters not if this not enough for anyone else as it will be my phone.
2) Not that worried about the screen size for films as I watch them via video glasses which work perfect on all the portable apple devices.
3) I am used to the touch and like how it works and the sound quality, so the phone is the ideal extension of this for me as I find my present windows smartphone useless.
4) I borrowed a friends 3GS to see if i liked the phone features (see above, having a touch I already liked the rest) and I did, I also borrowed another friends HTC and although it was ok I wasn't really taken by it, my personal choice because I can decide what I like when I am paying.
5) I will be jailbreaking it and also not using itunes but an alternative instead, so all the waffle about being forced to use apple stuff does not really count.
6) Like my purchase of the iPad I am buying it because a. I like it and b. I can, no other opinion counts on my choice but my own.
7) camera, who cares I have a couple of Nikons so I don't need it.
So in conclusion I am buying this phone because I like it, it is my choice, I am buying it with my money. If you don't like this phone than do not buy it. Others have mentioned various phones all of which are ok but not my cup of tea, I have not slagged any other phone down as I respect peoples individual choice, so please do the same and respect my choice by not thinking you have the right to besmirk how I spend my money and what equipment I like.

Thanks for that. I'm not of the opinion that any manufacturer's phones (other than Sony-Ericssons) have cameras that are particularly good for anything other than snaps, Apple and HTC included. But if this new one steps up the quality threshold a bit, then that will be a good thing.

Fifer - Yeh I hope so too but I think it will be... There was a lot of discussion over the chip they've used for the camera and how amazing it is (i'm not expert in camera chips though so will judge for myself when its out)
