Interesting that many of the predictions turned out to be correct, Apple are fairly reliable at turning out just enough specification to perform! The same 16Gb and 32Gb 3GS memory options might disappoint a few who were hoping for 64Gb. Also, a few were expecting a slightly bigger screen, although if the new screen is as nice and clear as claimed, this could make up for it.
The casing looks nice and slim although I wonder if traditional Apple lovers may find it a little 'boxey'. Speed and responsiveness have always been good on iPhone because of the way the OS is written and managed. The claims over battery life will soon be put to the test.
However, the more interesting bit will be the video capabilities. The 720p video will make a more appealing device for capturing cherished moments. I guess this could be a viable alternative to just taking pictures with an 5MP camera that's never going to compete with a digital camera.
The video calling will be one to keep an eye on. Can Apple make this popular in Europe where others have failed? The delay in enabling 3G video calls is probably so they can do a deal with all the networks to provide free video minutes in the tariffs. Otherwise, it's difficult to see this being successful.
I guess once these get into the hands of consumers, the real world experience can begin.0 -

An mp4 is a couple of hundred megs..... There is simply no way you would use up 32GB easily hahaha. And though in a year that may be different, a new device will be out then..
utter crap my 3gs has only 800mb of the 32bg left and i have been forced to delete about 10gb of stuff over the last 6 months
64gb should be the entry level or have a card slot0 -

If the video calling over 3g is enabled won't it push the price up? That would be alot of data so would there also be a reduction in allowance you can have on data?

Does no one else think the new iPhone looks ugly? I preferred the look of the 3GS although to be honest i'm an Android lover myself too.0

the iphone 4 looks like a good improvement over my utterly crap 3gs iphone
many of the annoyances will be gone such as multi task, flash photography
hopefully this will mean i can actually keep twitter and skype live all the time without having to constantly relog (this is so crap)
hopefully the dire iphone email service for hotmail and exchange will be improved although the linking all mail together looks sh1te, i have separate mails because i want work and private stuff separate :rotfl:
the high res screen is a big ++++
the lack of flash is still pathetic tbh, apple behave just like microsoft used to ...
and i will still have to use isuxtunes the worst software ever written
its a toss up between the iphone4 and the dell streak, and i like the larger size of the 5" streak, will be easier to use as a phone0 -

If it was "utter crap" then they would have released a device with more. The mass market do not need more than 32GB or it would have it.. So dont tell me I'm talking "utter crap"...
If you're going to rubbish someone elses argument then back it up.. dont just mutter things like that. That's not an argument...
Plus, no one person is the mass target so I don't give a damn what you personally have issues with...Keep it friendly and clean please! We all like a discussion but no need to tell people the're talking crap..

I think the new iPhone looks far better than the old ones. Although I don't own one as I'm another Desire owner.
I'm surprised that it only has 32GB memory as surely it will get used up fairly quickly if you start shooting HD footage with it?
As nickmack says though they've done just enough to move it ahead of the 3GS and make it competitive with the other top end phones out there.
Whoever came up with the term retina display wants shooting though. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

To be fair that is incorrect.
Apple have long since sold phones that looked great, were massively hyped but lacked some basic functions.
So they will deliberately release a 32GB version now and then in a few months launch the 64GB version as the new big thing.0 -

There is simply no way you would use up 32GB easily hahaha
