    My Desire hasn't crashed yet.

With respect, it was taken off topic by the claims that this new iPhone kills Android.

Because I'm interested in all new technology products. Just because I own an Android phone now, doesn't mean I'm tied to the OS. This is my first Android product and my first HTC product too. My next choice of phone will not be limited to any one vendor or OS - it will be the product which best fits my needs at the time I come to change.

Oh dear that is dangerous stance to take. A consumer who wants to make an informed choice about what they buy, based on a range of options. Steve Jobs will not like that;)

I have more than one laptop, but if I carry that, I don't need music on a DAP or phone. When I travelled recently, I left my laptop, camera and DAP at home and just used my Desire for everything including internet access. That was perfect for travelling light - why would I want to take a laptop when I can take a few 16GB micro SD cards instead??
Then please do that, nobody is trying to prevent you doing that, in fact nobody has said you should change, you like your phone, fine, the majority here like the iPhone, so why rabbit on about some other phone nobody here is interested in. I bet you are one of those types that turn up at an Opera festival and start telling everyone you prefer Jazz and don't know why people listen to Opera. You seem to be one of lifes miserable people and are not happy unless you are complaining to others about how you don't like thier choice, I bet your favourite phrase is the one from Harry Enfield, "You don't want to do that".

I have many reasons why I chose an Android phone over Apple this time around (open system, flexibility, much better screen resolution at the time of purchase, field swappable battery, memory card slot, better camera, full USB and bluetooth implementation, faster processor, etc). But a memory card slot was an important one. 32GB is enough for what? Everyone? I think on every occasion in history when anyone has said x k/M/GB is enough, they have ended up looking foolish very quickly.

BTW, AFAIAA, saphhire crystal is much harder than other glasses and is much more scratch resistant, but it is also more brittle and chip and cracks more easily too. But maybe this Apple material is different somehow?

The EVO is a great phone and in some ways beats the new iphone and is better than the 3gs, a real pity it is not in sale over here.

HTC will look at this and i reckon they will bring out a far far better phone. Apple have not got anything that can be called a a new way of doing things. Most of the things such as a front camera and 5mp camera have been done and bettered last year and before. The new iphone looks good but in some respects it is catchup with other makes.

I myself am waiting to see what can be done with webOS, an OS that is much better than Apple but a pity it is in a poor handset. I would like to see HTC build a handset for Palm/HP

The draw back with Apple is they lock everything down and it has to be on their terms.

Gah! Okay, lets lay this out.

Android - if you want to customise and hack your phone.
iPhone - if you're the kind of person who wants something that just works.

I was considering the HTC, was almost sold until I saw the iPhone. My last one is 19 months old, I've never had a phone like the iPhone which is as good today as it was 19 months ago and I'm still happy with it. I need a better camera, that's the only reason I'm swapping. It's only crashed twice in 19 months.

Android just isn't as polished yet. It tries to do too much. I'd rather have it restricted and stable than fabulous and crashable.

This is an iPhone thread, not a convince the people reading this that HTC is better. It's off topic.

I shall be looking forward to the comments of 'my HTC has never crashed' or 'I still can't fit 200GB uncompressed audio on it', well if you're happy with the HTC why on earth are you reading a thread about the iPhone 4?

Apple doesn't yet own your soul? Don't worry, there's an App for that too...

Don't a fair few 'jailbreak' their iphones?

    er....some people are!

I get the impression that the iphone is not Fifer's choice as it does not meet his needs.

The currently available range of iphones do not meet my needs either which is why I don't own one.

They are very impressive devices and there are other impressive phones on the market, which offer more flexibility, which at a guess is important to Fifer, as it is to me.

Sorry, I was under the impression that these were discussion forums, not fan clubs. Can't Apple take a little constructive criticism?

That couldn't be more correct. Apple market it in a very good way. The adverts won't appeal to everyone as not everyone needs an app that can do this or an app that can do that. An iphone will appeal to those that must have the next new thing, much in the same way as the ipad which can't do all that a Laptop can do. Take away the app store and itunes and you have nothing. I at the mo have a Pre Plus, it has 16gb, hard keypad and a great OS. I agree the handset itself needs to be replaced but it suits my needs. It may not have as many apps as the iphone but it has what i need. One thing about apps, i don't have a BBCNews or Sky News app so i visit the mobile version of the site and save it to the launcher, it works just like the app and shows the same information. I can also sync it with itunes just like you would an ipod or iphone. The email client is great and it syncs with my Google email, Google Finance (Stocks and shares etc) Facebook and also sync all my contacts from various places in one place so it is perfect for my needs.

I am also sure that Fifer is not here to insult you by saying the iphone does not meet his needs and that he wont be getting one. It is a bit sad when some take offense by others saying they don't like the damn thing.
