Because Apple brings out new devices as does every other phone provider? SO they'll improve on the rest of the market at the time as they always do. You could say it's other devices playing catch up.. chicken and egg...

I don't like how closed Apple are and am with you on that point, but it does have it's advantages as well I'll live with it

I do dislike Apple and their philosophies tremendously, but the devices are perfect for my use of them so ya know..

I have almost 200GB of uncompressed music alone. Compressing it at all for portability is a necessary compromise, but one I want to minimise as much as possible. In what way is 32GB 'enough'?

I don't follow your logic. If 32GB is 'enough', I presume Apple will stick with this limit on future products? But why then, do they produce a 64GB Touch? And a 120GB iPod classic?

Hardness and strength are very different physical properties. Hard products have a tendency towards brittleness. I'd rather have a scratched product than a broken one.

Fifer... You do realise how much playing time even just 16gb of music is?!! Nothing wrong with re-syncing haha.

And you completely mis-understand me on the "enough" aspect.. it's "enough" today... Sure you could overfill it.. sure you might want put every thing ever on there even stuff you don't listen to/watch etc, but being honest 32gb is "enough" for the iphone. For today.... Just like 512kb of memory was "enough" for a computer back in the day. Now as technology changes that will change... and a new device will come out to reflect that, but in this day and age 32gb is enough! There may be 2% of users like you where you're upset it isn't more, but it doesn't make the device any worse heh.

As for the Touch, its a different device with diff purposes and diff target audiences....

To be honest it was a surprise they didn't come out with the 64GB model.. but now I'll have an ipad and iphone perfectly in sync both using 32gb...

I don't care what the arguments are I want one and to that effect I have been down to the Manx Telecom shop this morning and preordered as we are getting them on the release date, cost unknown as yet but they have confirmed it will not be dearer than the 3Gs.

A fiesta doesn't appeal to the same market as a Ferrari and has a different price range...

Comparing a fiesta to a ferrari is like comparing an iphone to a Nokia 3210

I wouldn't say it's quite the same market, Android seems more orientated towards the techier types. The iPhones are fantastically marketed however.

It isn't terribly easy to resynch a mobile device with 32GB of data away from home. (And it isn't about how long it would take to listen to 32GB, but about having music to choose from to suit moods). Otherwise, 1GB would be more than enough for most people for a day. But it isn't.

Look.. of course it could have more.. EVERYTHING could have more.. but because it doesnt have more doesnt mean its a bad device
