I'd agree with those prices, but it means that as usual, the UK market is being thoroughly ripped off. The US price is $199, and the UK price would be £499. Where is the justice in that?
If the prices are as above, I'll be filing a complaint to Trading Stadards, although I'm not sure you can complain against somebody making a profit. Just don't give O2 etc. any of your business.
But the US price is the price with a 2 year contract plus you have to add sales tax to this price. UK prices HAVE to include VAT.
Steve Jobs explained this in an email to a consumer when comparing Ipad prices0 -
Oh. D'oh!
I'll be looking for PAYG prices, but I'll bet you your last dollar we'll still be charged more proportionately in this country than elsewhere.
Guess we'll find out on June 15th...0 -

Won't have to wait that long me thinks, expect O2 at least to reveal full pricing details later today (at a guess)Hardcore moneysaver0 -
Hi everyone, I really want to get the new iPhone on Tesco (so cheap!) but their website isn't displaying any information about it. I phoned them and a member of staff told me "we're working on it" but he thinks they probably will have it soon.
I think personally I'm prepared to wait for them to get it as the prospect of a 12 month contract is worth waiting for0 -

I'm looking to go out of contract - I know it's not moneysaving (having an iPhone never is) but I want to OWN the phone. When you are looking at the prices, compare the cost of a 12 month contract with the cost of buying the phone outright and then having an iPhone sim only contract. Not only do you get the freedom of selling the iPhone straight away when they upgrade again, you will often find that the total costs are very close. The main difference is that you "shell out" quite a bit up front but can unlock the phone straight away and pick your provider - switching when the price war gets going and they are all after your business!!In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
I wonder whether I can get cashback from Quidco by ordering an iPhone 4 via the Apple Store........In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0

It depends on how much you want the phone, and more to the point how the PAYG tariff fits into your spend pattern. If you use the phone a lot then the fact the phone is free on a contract really starts to make the difference.
Buying on contract is a XX a month proposition, Looking at o2 and the 3GS 16GB (just picked the cheapest one). the £179 phone 18months and 30PCM is the cheapest. Works out at £719 over the contract and effectivly £40 a month adding in the phone cost.
Same on PAYG Phone is £449 , Cheapest smartphone tarrif is £15 PCM, same 18 months makes that the same price £719, that's assuming a 12 month minimum contract. If you want a 1 month one that's £60 more.
What has been seen so far is there is no competition, the arrival or Orange, Vodafone and Tesco were supposed to bring price cuts, but it just has not happened. iPhones are the same price everywhere
Your right it really does depend how much you want to be on that cutting edgeOscar_The_Grouch wrote: »I wonder whether I can get cashback from Quidco by ordering an iPhone 4 via the Apple Store........
Should be able to but if you get a work or education discount that may be higher (we get 5% quidco is 4%).0 -
I'm off to Florida at the begining of July and am tempted to buy one commitment free (works out to about £450) but still have 12 months to go on my 3gs contract.
I've read that it's possible to convert my sim card into a micro sim - is this true and could I do this and then just keep paying my usual contract but have a shiny new iphone 4???xxx Nikki xxx0 -
Nikkisun - yes you can, or you can just ask them for a microsim, it doesn't usually cost anything. I've just registered for information regarding the iPhone 4 and they've offered to send me one in advance free.Tim0

Morning all
Interesting question re quidco Oscar!
There's no word yet if PAYG will be on sale the same day as contract phones however. That's what I'm more interested in! The price is always going to work out cheaper for a PAYG deal with o2 simplicity or something... It's just whether it will actually come out...[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
