iPhone '4' thread

Just a quick one on the camera bit, the mega pixels matter little, it is the sensor chip that matters, among my cameras I have a Nikon D3s, if I set it at its very lowest then it goes to about 7mp even that low the picture quality is smoother than a cashmere codpiece and would make even the best phone camera with thier cut down chips look like a poor grainy toy. A camera on a phone is a poor quality toy used just for convenience.

The 3GS in America has dropped so i expect the UK will do the same.

Is it worth upgrading you ask? do some research is the iphone the best phone for you.

Android, RIM etc...

i have a list of priority's that for features that i want

always on skype / twitter
multi tasking
hi rez screen
ease of connection to any computer
half decent camera with flash
reasonable amount of memory or interchangeable memory

All camera on all phones are pretty useless when compared to a decent slr with a full sized chip

32GB is more than enough for a phone/music device.. If you want to carry more than 32GB of data then fine, don't get the iphone, but not many people will *actively* be using more.

Ok I said 32GB will never be fully used and I stand by it but I did mean actively... By actively I mean listening to every song, watching every tv prog/film (and wanting to store it) every couple of weeks... It's impossible!!

So yes, more storage would be nicer, and next year a new device with more storage will come out I'm sure.. But listen to the above argument

You're all saying the iPhone isn't a good device because it has 32GB of memory??! That's an insane reason to choose a different device haha...

And as for comparing it with a pen drive... I'm still loling over it. This is a smartphone, not meant to be a backup device.

the iphone 3gs is majorly flawed for many reasons, the small memory and lack of memory slot is just one of the larger ones, but there are many more

some of these major flaws are potentially resolved in the iphone4 but there is no single reason apart from the ability to rip of customers for higher end models for not having a memory slot, it would have been a very cheap and easy fix to put a usb port on the side for accessing additional media, even my blackberry allows me to swap sd cards ...

im sorry you have such a small media portfolio, i have just over 7TB (i have 12TB of disc space on my personal pc) at the moment, i like to have a sample of movies, tv shows and music on my device, i may be stuck in the middle of no where for many hours because of work so i like to have a selection available to cover what mood i am in, and i have watched and listened to everything on my iphone many times

apple are on the back foot here they are being left far behind, now they are having to play catchup

and why can a smartphone not be a backup device as well, the answer is they can, blackberrys work just like memory sticks, plug em in with a standard usb cable, nothing to install, copy n paste what ever you want, the iphone could do the same, the only reason you can not is that apple deliberately !!!! block this

Who says its World class.........Apple?

Look yeah its a good housing but it is no better than other phones in many respects.

The camera IS NOT as good as others. The multitasking is not as good as webOS the OS and UI is certainly not better than webOS and i say not as a fan but because it just is. You may not like that but it is. Now buy it and enjoy it but others, please stop getting upset when people say its not all what Apple say it is. It wont conform to what other people want and it is not by far the best phone out there. You will over the next few months see phones that are going to better than the Evo and iphone but you wont for a long time see an OS and UI as good as webOS and if there is one it will be Palm/HP or Google that do it. I would take some time to get to know webOS as you will see lots more of it.

I'm not actually an apple fanboy. I don't have a mac and hate apple. I dislike their philosophies. But the iPhone is a fantastic device which I will support.

Now let me go find a medal for you having 12TB of disk space..

Apple sell iPhone for the mass market. You are a much higher class citizen obviously and are not included in that. Maybe you need to go buy one of those gold plated phones?

Good luck fitting 12TB on any device.
