I was also told they were only allocated 500! I told them whoever decided this was 'plenty to last the weekend' was having a laugh. He said Apple had only allocated 10,000 to the UK. Hmmm. My current simplicity deal doesn't end til Aug 12th anyway so I guess I can wait a bit longer.

Not quite true as CPW said somewhere on the net that they received 16,000 handsets instead of the 60,000 ordered from Apple. When you consider the likes of Apple, O2, Voda and Orange I guess there may be 25,000 to 50,000 iPhone 4's circulating the UK. I remember reading somewhere that one O2 branch had 200 handsets allocated alone.

Well it seems like a bit of a mess at Tesco at the moment. Shame as they are offering one of the best deals.

Minor point but it's Tesco not Tescos or Tesco's (it would only be Tesco's if you were talking about something they own such as Tesco's baked beans).

Good luck to you all. We did have a 3G one for a while, but Iphones are s h i t e so we got rid.

My advice is, if you like all the gadgets and gizmos then get an Ipod touch and get a separate phone.

Thank you, I have taken your advice and ordered myself and ipod touch, I only really wanted iphone for the apps and internet access so ipod touch will suit me fine and if I like it will get my son one for his birthday,

I was going to get an iphone 4 from tesco but the shambles has put me off, then I read your post and it got me thinking!, so maybe its fate!

I am sure the iphone 4's are great and I would love one but the more I thought about it I couldnt really afford it.

Loving this thread, all this is new to me as I am a total technofobe but I have learnt so much from on here and cant wait to get my ipod touch now.

I hope everyone gets their iphones that wants one xx

Just a quick heads up to anyone who wants to buy a case for the iPhone 4
    http://www.boxwave.com/accessories/apple-iphone-4-cases_3968.htm
This place is offering free cases and you only have to pay delivery charges, which to the UK is just under £5. People over on MacRumors forums seem to rate this company highly so it might be worth a try if you want to pick up a case on the cheap. Only thing is they might not get here for a couple of weeks, mine says it will ship on the 5th July since it's a preorder, and shipped from the US. (I chose the pure crystal one in grey)

Not all the cases are free, just so you know. 7 of the designs are, if you look down the list.

I wanted mine on the release day and I have waited in many times for things to just not be delivered so I decided to queue (I had reserved)- and it paid off as I got the phone I wanted on a 3 contract- had I waited for an upgrade with 3 then I'd still have a few weeks to go. My contract finished in Jan so I've been waiting for this phone long enough.

I am not gullible but I do know what I want, and I am very happy with my iphone that the Apple store set up for me ready to use and they even used their magic machine to transfer all of my contacts onto my iphone from my old nokia n95 8gb which wouldn't took me ages.:T

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I seem to have had such a hassle-free time with my order whereas lots of people seem to have had to queue for hours, wait for ages on the phone to Tesco etc. On the face of it, it did seem unnecessary.

It's odd that the Tesco fiasco hasn't been reported online, I would have thought they'd cocked it up so bad that at least some sites would be reporting the nonsense.

I'm actually confused now, so I'm hoping you guys can help me make a decision. Because of Tesco's farce, I've already lost a lot of faith in them before even buying the phone, and after reading some horror stories over on macrumors, I'm considering other options.

I want a 12 month contract for sure, so it'll have to be a SIM-only deal, if it's not Tesco.

I was originally interested in the £35 a month Tesco contract, which gives 750 mins, unlimited texts and 1GB data. The 32GB handset with it costs £299.

I know it is the best 12 month deal out there, but if i was to choose a SIM-only tariff, would you guys recommend Voda, O2, Orange or 3?

That is a REALLY good find! :)

I recommend you post it in the quick grabbit now board or freebies (low spend)
