The iPhone is stainless steel, not aluminium (if it was then we'd really have problems.)

sorry your very right it is, posting late last night. The other points still stand, its because the metal is exposed that the problem comes about. The metal casing was meant to be covered so it would not be possible to bridge with a finger.

This doesnt affect all other phones because the iphone is unusual in that it uses its metal outer rim as its antena.

I'm really sorry for all who are experiencing problems with their iPhone 4s. I can only sympathise as mine is absolutely bloody fantastic and I'm totally delighted with it.

However, if there was something wrong, then I'd be a) waiting to see if the software upgrade will help or b) get a replacement. If we're paying premium prices, we should be getting premium service. I can't see that Apple will let this 'uproar' of customer dissatisfaction slide - they're too proud at being the 'best' at what they do.

But it does affect other phones, doesn't it? Some android? Some 3GS? Just from what I've read online, it appears this isn't limited to the iPhone 4??

The trouble is, it's all very confusing and there are lots of different theories and conspiracy theories :p - just like the build up to the launch!

Keeps it in the news, though, hey?

    WATCH OUT

If you bought sim free from Apple online store then your invoice does NOT have your IMEI on it. I have called apple and requested something with an IMEI be sent out because you will need it for your mobile insurance!!

Right then, trying to get through to tesco again. Still engaged, gonna keep trying. Will update with information as soon as it's available.
  • Got through to Tesco after listening to their engaged tone for ages, their system did not work this morning. Was told to try again at 12 O'Clock. If you're wasting another morning trying to get through don't bother! If anyone knows different please update this thread

Thanks for saving me from the endless torture of waiting to get through for so long only to be told their system is still down.

I'll try again at 1pm. What a farce.

HTC Desire doesnt have these problems, maybe there is some truth in the Desire being an iphone killer altho Apple are doing their best to kill it anyway:D

I just got through as well and was told the same thing. I'd part completed the order yesterday when the system went down mid way through the call and was told I'd be called back (although I never expected it to happen). The guy I spoke to this morning told me anyone that was supposedly being called back by an advisor would probably only get a call next week so to try myself later.
