  • I spoke to Orange upgrade yesterday and questioned why the upgrade and new customers iphone deals are the same? they told me that apple dont allow discounts for their iphones. was hoping that i would upgrade to the iphone 4 on a good deal, but it looks like that aient gonna happen! Do you all think this may change later on and i should wait to upgrade? or are they telling it as it is?

Wait to see if Tesco will be selling the iPhone 4 on PAYG. They may not be selling it on PAYG at launch (hopefully they will). If they do, you will get a Tesco micro sim with the purchase. You'll then need to call customer services and have them switch your existing account to the new sim card.

Well according to the muppets in the phone shop they think this won't happen as 'apple' may not allow it ??????????

*so* glad O2 have confirmed that we can get microsims from stores before launch day :)

i intend to go and get one on Monday.

one question (which i don't think has been asked already, but i'm probably wrong!) is there anything to stop me swapping my number/simplicity tariff over to the microsim *before* i get my iphone on thursday?

the O2 website says to activate your iphone with the microsim in it and then go through the process of swapping your details on to the new sim.. is there anything to stop me doing it the other way round? i want my microsim ready to go when my ip4 is delivered next thursday because the system is bound to collapse under the pressure of thousands of people trying to activate their new microsims!

i've never had an iphone before, and i've never had to do a sim swap before either, so i'm a bit clueless when it comes to this stuff!!

You won't have a phone to put it in?

but do you have to have an iphone to put it in to swap the details over? from what i've read, all you need is the number on the microsim... and your current sim in a phone to receive the code they send you?

if the pics on the o2 website are right and the microsim can also be used as a standard sim until you pop the little bit in the middle out, i can just put it in an old o2 phone, but if you actually need to put it in an iphone and activate it via itunes before you swap the details over, then i'll have to wait til thursday.

On o2s website it shows you can use it as a normal sim too, then pop out the microsim bit when you get your iPhone so I'll be looking to switch mine over as soon as i get the microsim on mon

I have been trying to upgrade and get some kind of offer out of Orange but they are not having any leway with the price plans. However they do give a discount on the handset prices.

    Dont know what to do.

You only need the adaptor if you want to convert the micro sim back to a normal sized sim later for use in another phone. When you first get your micro sim, you can leave it within the normal sized sim and use it in any phone. It's only once you pop the micro sim out that you would need the adaptor.

He then showed me a normal sim (yeah, like I've never seen one of them before), and said that it wouldn't be possible to cut it down to microsim size as it would mean cutting through the gold part of the normal sim itself.

Don't really know what to do now ????????

You can cut your sim card down to fit, and yes it does work if done right such as in this linky or this link
