Many apologies if that's a stupid question but I've just skim read the posts on this thread about going to phone shops as I was totally convinced I was going to be able to order online on the day.
You have to go instore to pre-order they wont do it over the phone either.0 -

Ah right - thanks!
Looks like I'll have to make a trip into town then. Bloody great, innit - in these days of fabulous technology, you actually have to walk somewhere and TALK to a human being in order to get the latest toy!

I have NOT pre ordered an iPhone 4
I DO have the day off work on the 24th
Apple store opens at 8am
What time should I head down to snap up a handset?
Your opinions please....0 -

When I bought my 3G on launch day I turned up just before 7am and was about 20th in line...
I suspect there will be very few handsets available to those who haven't preordered. I'd personally go at 6.
[EDIT] Actually "personally" I wouldn't bother but if I were inclined to go through all that waiting around again and ensure I got a phone it would be 6am0 -

Trying to raise funds to buy it on PAYG, or at least have the option to
Use Dad's £30 towards a new phone (orange only though) - £30
Car boot (if I'm lucky) - £50
Call in owed birthday present off sister - £50
Saved so far - £40
Sell current phone on Muzuma - £30
Hmm - just £299 to go then......:rotfl:
In the same boat, and same feelings. So far I have sold some car mats for £50, sold my ipod touch for £100, sold another part of my car for £50. So another £370 with insurance to go!
Have a broken treadmill, desktop computer and a whole room of stuff to go on ebay:rotfl:0 -

Went into my tesco's phone shop today. Have got 10 months left on my existing 3gs contract. Hubby dropped my phone down the bog a couple of weeks ago (yes, tis true), so he very kindly
said that he would buy me the iPhone 4 on PAYG so I could just slip my sim in. Tesco's said that they thought that it would be very unlikely that APPLE would allow them to give me a new microsim with my current number on my existing contract ??? I then told them if that was the case then I would take a carving knife to my current sim to try and get it into the iPhone 4, and if I c*cked it up then I would request a new sim off them, and repeat the process until I got it right. He then showed me a normal sim (yeah, like I've never seen one of them before), and said that it wouldn't be possible to cut it down to microsim size as it would mean cutting through the gold part of the normal sim itself.
Don't really know what to do now ????????0 -

Wait to see if Tesco will be selling the iPhone 4 on PAYG. They may not be selling it on PAYG at launch (hopefully they will). If they do, you will get a Tesco micro sim with the purchase. You'll then need to call customer services and have them switch your existing account to the new sim card.0 -

Agreed, although I'd be inclined to phone the Apple store you're going to to check if they have any handsets available for people that didn't reserve one. I'd be more than a litttle peed off waiting for 2 hours only to have an employee walk out at 8 am and say "Sorry, we only have enough iPhones for people that reserved them."0 -
