Idiot there are very few caravans on the road normally unless its holiday period. They are also not restricted to 56 mph like lorries are so should move faster.

They share the same speed limit as lorries as does any towing vehicle. They also share the same lane restrictions as well.

oooooh, This is one for me :P

Being a Lorry Driver.. Limited to 56? Some are 60, some are 50.. depends on the tread left on the tyre? (There can be over an Inch of tread on tyres which makes a huge difference..)..
I carry Oversize loads, very light ones.. Max 7 Tonnes.. You Put yourself in my shoes, stuck behind a 44tonne artic, pulling at 25mph up a steep hill on the m62, I by law have to take two lanes in certain places, So i'd happily sit behind him and block the entire motorway up.. I also get paid by the hour.... however, to keep traffic moving, i overtake, sometimes having to use lane 3 aswell.
Then there are the dopey twits who sit in lane 1 at 40mph on a Motorway with a National Speed of 70???? then Roadworks, they sit in the middle lane and seem unable to move to the left?? :\
Its car drivers that need a good hiding..
Any Ponsey spotty 17 year old can get a driving license.
    HGV drivers are PROFESSIONAL drivers.
They have to Cope with a lot more !!!!!! from car drivers than car drivers do from us.
How often do you stop and Flash a lorry out, Or hang back on a tight bend so they can swing round both sides of the road..?

These people that moan about lorry drivers. Come see me.
Ill sit you in my wagon with a 15ft wide load on and let you drive it up to hull, see how many times you get the angelic car drivers overtake you, realise they need the next junction and then quite happily slam their anchors on, pull infront of you, and slow you down.. Then it takes you an age to get back up to speed again while they swan off home for supper, when we're working any hours of the day, and majoriry of us, me included, out 6 days a week living on service station crap.

    Rant Over.

Car Drivers. If you think its that easy.
    You have a Go.
    Almost..debt free.. :P:money:

Going down the M25 last week I came across just this, all 3 were travelling at the same speed(bar a smidgeon)It was about 5 miles before one struggled to overtake the rest then there was a race to clear the tailback. (yes I do know 3 hgv's are not supposed to do this but you tell the driver)

In a 4 lane or more motorway, HGVs can use all except the extreme central lane.

I flash lorries out, but only British ones. The l/h drive ones scare me? But when I let a lorry out, if I don't get a sexy wink of the indicator it spoils my day ;)

The ones I don't understand are the car drivers who sit behind lorries when the motorway is reasonably clear...

Maybe some folk are quite happy to sit at 55 on the motorway (I know I have days like that), and one advantage to staying behind a lorry is much better fuel economy thanks to the slipstream effect.

I do it from time to time. Its a good way to maintain pace and save fuel. If you take a relaxed attitude its not a bad place to be, just chilling out and watching the miles roll by. I find a suitable choice of music helps considerably too....

Coming out the M8, EVERYONE sits in the overtaking lane till Newhouse, even when the inside lanes clear.

It's not just the M8. In Scotland it seems to be normal practice on joining any motorway or dual carriageway to immediately move to the outside lane and stay there.

It's not a new thing, it's been like that for years. I used to think that Scotland had its own version of the highway code.

The money you save on fuel goes towards repainting your front bumper, wings and bonnet from the stone chips chucked up by the lorry...

    :rotfl:

I've lost count the number of times ive seen a rock or even half a house brick jammed between the twin wheels of a truck....
Am I the only person who notices these things????

That's the time when you really don't want to be near said truck, because when that thing pops loose at 60mph, it'll hit your car at speeds in excess of 120mph!
    (wheel speed + your speed)

Better to slow down and let the "slip streamer" who's glued to your rear end, move infront of you :D

Everyone loves to maon about lorry drivers.Maybe we should just ban them from the roads completely. Then we'd all starve as noone would deliver the food we eat.

I was thinking on similar lines, bet Harvey would be the 1st to complain if his bread arrived toasted or his eggs hatched.:D

Lorry drivers are like car drivers some good some crap, trouble is a crap wagon driver causes more hassle.;)
