I have never driven a hgv, but I know a fair bit about dynamics. They get additional consideration and a wide berth from me and many others, although I'm probably not in a majority group.
I think it's born of ignorance rather than intent, not that it makes a blind bit of difference to the chopped up 20 tonner that now has zilch stopping clearance
I always made a point of giving a "thankyou" wave out of the drivers window if a car moved over to let me pull out on a motorway and always a thanks if they stopped to let me past parked cars etc. As I got later into my years, I stopped being annoyed by the morons. My favourite trick when those around me were bereft of any common sense, such as where there were parked cars on both side which I'd already started passing but the oncoming muppetboy decided to set off even though there was nowhere to go, was to stop in the middle of the road, get out my newspaper and pop it on the steering wheel and read it until they saw sense and sorted it out.:D
To be fair, many car drivers are quite accommodating. Some that aren't don't do it deliberately but do it because either they're not capable of processing what their eyes are thinking or think that something 53ft long can turn in the same space as a Ford Fiesta. And then there's the morons but they'd be morons no matter what the other person is driving.0
