HTC Desire Vodafone 500mb Fair Usage Policy

I wonder if there should be provision for a standard charge of taking your mobile number elsewhere, whilst continuing to pay the contract that you are on.
In my case i would not want to lose my number, but if i had to keep paying the £17.50 a month frankly i could sell the HTC Magic and recover at least part of that cost. I would continue to receive calls on that number, but i would be free to take my number elsewhere and get a deal i agreed to.
This wouldn't help much, but it would remove the power a network has to hold you to ransom if you do want to keep your number?0 -
Hi,
I have just been pointed in this direction by a colleague who told me to check this out after showing off my desire on a month old Vodafone contract and must say that I'm very concerned!!!
I got my Desire as soon as it was released after being offered a relatively good 12 month deal in a Vodafone store. It was so good infact, that it tempted me away from my existing O2 contract which I'd had for a while.
When in the store, I repeatedly asked if the unlimited internet was actually unlimited and was told that although it was subject to a FUP, he was unaware of anybody being charged and there were no charges in place even if I did go over.
Now a month on this appears to be changing. I use 3G watchdog and last month I used 364mb. The problem is that about a 1/3 of the month was spent abroad. I have been travelling quite frequently abroad for over night stays so there are quite a few days were I only used a few mb as I caught an early flight, or a late night flight back. There are only 5 days where 0mb were used. If Voda use my previous months usage as an example of what I use in a month, it will appear that my bill will not rise by 10% therefore preventing my cancellation under clause 11c. The problem is these trips will cease in a couple of months and put me in a position where I will be over 500mb, but it will then be too late to cancel. What do I do?0 -
From someone on the eForum
Anyway, here's some more shocking news for you all... The 500mb of data bundles our unlimited packages are being replaced with are (and this is from a Vodafone advert I have in by pocket which was printed today) enough for you to "watch 2 3 minute youtube videos a day".
Nothing about reading and replying to 10,000 emails, nothing about 8000 BBC news articles, nothing about 24 Google maps, or 6 interwebs... JUST 2 3 minute Youtube videos a day.
If anyone accepts that, they're nuts.

That new advert from the metro is great. It really does show that they are starting to realise they cant spout rubbish statistics when they like. It shows their true colours finally, and I am sure start to put a lot of people off!0

That's just hilarious. Latest Vodafone printed materials saying 40 web pages a day.
That's ~1200 a month - what happened to 8000 BBC News stories? Can't wait to read that explanation0
