From eForum: Worked for me, Just been on phone with voda cancellations and they said yes you are allowed to cancel if this change will increase your bill by more than 10% email or write in and we will sort it. Email already sent, giffgaff here i come, no fair use policy at all from now on.

    And the e-mail he sent:

Hello, my mobile numbers in question are xxxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxxx.
I spoke to a customer service rep and manager yesterday regarding then increases on pricing to your data plans, when i first joined Vodafone with the first number listed i was told there is a soft limit and as you can see from my bills on this number i always reach this limit and most months go slightly over.
When i spoke to the two people at voda yesterday they assured me there were no plans to introduce charges if users went over 500mb a month and he confirmed this with the email below to me.
I have found from numerous sources including this website http://topnews.us/co...alating-tariffs
that this is actually going to take effect from 1st June, according to my contract if you introduce new charges while i am in contract i have the right to cancel my contracts without penalty, If this information is true i would like you to request my pac code for phone number xxxxxxxxxxxx and accept this as my 30 days notice period for cancellation.
I have also attached screenshots of various other sources including the Vodafone forums where an admin admits these new charges and says if anyone is not happy we have the right to cancel under clause 11.2C of our contract.
I would like a quick response to this problem as i have already been fobbed off one over the phone yesterday as mentioned above.
    Many Thanks

Apologies, not from me, I cross posted someone's post from Voda eForum. I have amended my original post.

Ok, so maybe not that much use, but with others allegedly having contacted 191 to get out of their contract free of charge, I decided to ask an online chat rep about this:
chatinfo.gifYou are now connected with Aaron.
Aaron: Hello, you're chatting with Aaron, one of Vodafone's online sales specialists. May I take your name please?
    You: Matt
You: Just wish to know how best to go about cancelling my contract under Clause 11.2 (c) we increase your Charges in the UK which have the effect of increasing your total call and usage charges (based upon your usage in the previous month) by more than 10% and you write to us before the increase takes effect; or
    Aaron: Hi Matt
Aaron: i am sorry to know that you want to cancel your contract with us
You: I currently pay £25 a month for "Unlimited" internet. The new charges will now mean if I go over the 500mb Hard Cap I will have to pay an extra £5. 10% of £25 is £2.5 therefore the £5 charge will be more than 10%
You: So I would just like to know how I can cancel, without charges, and request my PAC code to move to a different network
You: I will put something in writing if needed, I just need to know where and who to send it to
Aaron: i can certainly understand your concern and to be honest
Aaron: if i would have been in your place i would have felt the same

You: I would never have renewed my contract if I had known this was coming into effect
You: So if you wouldn't mind providing me with the relevant contact details that would be brill
Aaron: As I'm an online sales specialist, i don't have access to your account
Aaron: what you can do is contact
Aaron: our customer care team on 191 free from your mobile and one of my colleagues will be there to help you
You: And they will be able to tell me how I go about cancelling?
    Aaron: yes absolutely
Aaron: is that fine with you?
You: And you think I will be able to do so, free of charge due to this ridiculous change in my contract
Aaron: well i can't comment on that as i am not from customer service team
Aaron: but i am sure they will be happy to help you
    You: Ok many thanks
    Aaron: your welcome
Aaron: Is there anything else i can do for you today?
You: That is all thank you
    Aaron: welcome
Aaron: it was nice chatting with you
    Aaron: have a good evening
Aaron: Thank you for chatting with me today. Vodafone really values your feedback. Please click the "Close" button at top right to answer a few questions about your experience with me today. Have a really good day!

I've emailed the webservices email and one of the high up UK Vodafone people.

I'd like some kind of firm answer as to where i stand in regards to this situation. I have other issues with not being on the tariff i was under the impression i was sold in January, and am pretty aggravated that according to the recent official update because i am not yet in the job i knew i would be likely to get and do not go over the allowance i am not entitled to anything. If i had abused the 500mb then apparently i would be.

This is backwards logic if you ask me.

Vodafone can still sort out what they plan on changin, but if they want to stick to their guns on existing customers promised one thing and then doing something else i am pretty sure i will be taking this further.

Shame as i have been a relatively happy customer for year, i recommend Vodafone, usually praise their CS team as my experiences of them have been generally positive, and since having a SureSignal base station i have found using my phone when working at home to be almost 100%.

Just been on the phone to cancellations department..
She told me so far, there is no change in my contract, I have NOT been charged for going over 500MB. If there is any change in contract, they will let me know by text message(so she knows about this) and then I can contact them regarding that.
So far, I cannot do anything because vodafone has not changed the contract yet.
I can discuss further AFTER i get a text message

Just had a look at the Facebook page. Irony is that you have to click 'Like' Stealth Changes to fair use data policy to subscribe to it on fb when in reality we all rather dislike it hence the uproar!! :D

I had emailed watchdog yesterday myself. Hopefully it will be chased up and featured on the show. I have a HTC Magic and I dont use anywhere close to 500MB so based on the current VF stand, I am not entitled to cancellation....

Can anybody tell me where I stand?

My last bill was 231.3MB according to the Ebilling site which was dated 23rd April. However my phone was away for repair for a week during this time and I was in Southern Ireland for a week so wasn't able to use data there either.

On the 30th April I upgraded to the HTC Legend which seems to be a lot heavier on data usage than my previous phone (which I went over to 500MB on several times). So now I've signed a new contract which I'm right at the beginning of and have a phone which my usage of will be "handicapped" by this new policy.

Is there anything I can do? Or am I stuck as even if I have a near-complete month with my new phone the 14 days notice period to cancel will have passed so I won't have any opportunity to prove the new rules disadvantage me with my new phone.
