My bill is due 26th May, so before they introduce changes on 1st June.

Still plenty of time for me to get from 160MB data in a week to 500MB by 26th May - esp since I will be out and about at work without WiFi

Just spoke to Vodafone 191. I have the Desire on the 500MB usage and argued that as I use Last.fm daily, I will quite easily exceed the 500MB cap.

They agreed to offer change my plan to an iPhone plan equivalent with 1GB and wi-fi for the same price (£40pm)

I wasn't intending to cancel just looking for a compromise.

just been to VF customer service.. those guys really dont know what they are saying.
After 20 mins talking, the only conclusion was: i will not get charged if i use over 500mb next month, and the month after, and after...
he spoke to his manager and said this is a fair usage policy.
and as usual, answered NONE of my questions. He was just talking nonsense, teaching me about megabytes and kilobytes. LOL
Are they just being told to lie and change topic??

I've added a template letter to send to Vodafone chief exec/ceo and customer care. Added on the new thread for templates/contacts/methods to complain about this topic which can be found here.

Please take the 2m minutes it takes to copy and paste it and send it off. I've done my best with it, it's not perfect but will do for a start.

    Thanks

500MB means you can read and reply to 10,000 emails, download 24 Google maps and read 8,000 BBC News stories. Today, a tiny fraction of our customers use their full allowance.

Well what do they expect, all because they bundle internet with phones does not mean the user is actually making use of it. Many non techy people get a phone for it been a phone so don't use the internet features as they are not aware of them.

There is probably a huge variation in figures, where loads of people are probably under 50mb, maybe even under 10mb because they simply do not use the service. Against those that wanted the service and do use it.

Also many websites are not mobile friendly, user BBC news is, but MSE is 0.5-1mb+ per forum page.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Can't see what the fuss is - the "unlimited data" has a fair usage limit of 500MB commonly.

Anyone going over that now will get notified via a text or something and so won't end up being charged for the extra data unless they really want to be charged.

t-mobile already have a capped data feature on their account settings.

fuss is that they are scrapping the fair usage policy for a "hard" cap..
500 will be absolute max, and pay £5 if you do 1mb more, or 500mb more
