I can't post links but Bitter Wallet have written a great article interpreting what Vodafone have said and how they relate to the T+C's.

I wanted to get the htc desire on vodafone contract this month, but after finding out about the 500mb changes, I did some searching and found this thread. It as been immensely helpful in forming my decision to hold off getting any contract with vodafone unless these new conditions are changed.

Thankyou everyone, I will keep reading :)

After reading the very useful Bitter Wallet article and after looking on the vodafone site for the Pay Monthly Airtime Terms and conditions, I noticed that there are links to two documents. One of them was last updated on July 2008 and one on October 2009. The reason I mention this is that Clause 11 is slightly different in the two documents and I believe that Bitter Wallet was commenting on the July 2008 document and not the October 2009 document. But would appreciate someone else looking and commenting, as I am unclear myself.

In the 2008 document it is Clause 11.2(c) & (d) which matter, but in the October 2009 document it is Clause 11(b) which is significant.

Although I cant put the full url of both as I am a newbie on this forum please add the usual http before each link

    Last Updated 2009 -online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template12&pageID=PTC_1111

    Last Updated 2008 - online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template09&pageID=PTC_0003

    Regards

Just to clarify, what is written in each is essentially the same but if you are writing a letter and referencing these clauses in the hope of cancelling we need to reference the write ones.

Can someone explain this to me... ive been emailing vodafone to try and understand my internet policy or whatever and below is the response

    ME:
Could you please let me know more details on the VMI (Vodafone Mobile Internet). For instance is it unlimited internet access? Or does it have a hard cap on with a 500MB? which has a FUP (Fair usage policy)? The reason I would like to know is because I am worried about going over my internet limit if the VMI does have a limit.

    Please get back to me

    Many Thanks

    Gari

    VF: Hello Gari,

VMI (Vodafone Mobile Internet) which allows you to browse Internet on your phone.

There is a fair usage policy of 25 MB per day for a daily mobile internet charge of 50p.

On exceeding this limit, the customers don’t get straightaway charged but Vodafone gets in touch with them to know where they stand.

    Trust the above information helps.

I've also attached a short customer feedback questionnaire and would really appreciate your thoughts to help us improve our service and I can assure you, this will be treated in confidence. Just click here to start.

    Kind regards,

    Vodafone Customer Services

So from this am i supposed to calculate how much internet im allowed to use pm. If anyone can help please do so.

Ok, I emailed BBC watchdog telling what happened

then I emailed ** , apparently CEO, CC'd the email to webrelations@vodafone.com and also watchdog.

I explained guy lawrence about the things, and asked to cancel the contract under clause 11.2(c) and (d) within 30 days without me occurring any termination fees or penalty...

    Lets see what happens

By the way, I couldnt believe this afternoon I was on the phone to voda customer service, she blatantly refused to put me through her manager stating he was "busy".... Luckily for her my battery was running low and I didnt argue much...

Spoke to BitterWallets and sent them copies of chat transcripts and also some of the info I have found out. I suggest everyone does the same so they can fight for us too.

    bitterwallet@googlemail.com

    Their response to my e-mails:

Hey Matt, cheers for both the mail.

I understand entirely what Vodafone are trying to do, I just don't get how they're expecting customers simply to put up with it. They've contradicted their own terms more times than I can count in the past three days. Their terms are so poorly worded they're leaving themselves wide open for trouble.

What's really important now is that customers report back every snippet of correspondence and communication they can - last year we forced Orange to reverse a series of charges they were introducing; key to that was when we discovered they were telling customers that Ofcom had approved the changes, when no such thing had happened. The more they contradict themselves, the easier it is to point out how grossly unfair this change is on current customers.

I'll follow up with further mails next week, but anything you get, please let me have it!

    Best,

    Paul

Hi Everyone, Tom_Vodafone (from the eForum) here. I just wanted to drop you a message to say that if any of you want to make contact with us as a company to voice your concerns about the situation, the best way to do this is by dropping my team an email at webrelations@vodafone.com, or by completing the Online Contact ...Form at vodafone.co.uk/contactus and including the code WRT135 in the subject line. We've been heavily involved in this discussion across the web as you know, and I promise you that all of your feelings and concerns will be fed back. Feel free to get in contact any time.

I've emailed Watchdog, hoping they take this up as I'm sure Vodafone's management and shareholders would just *love* the negative publicity. Will probably contact Which? as well...

Edit: email to Which? sent :)
