Just spoke to Vodafone 191. I have the Desire on the 500MB usage and argued that as I use Last.fm daily, I will quite easily exceed the 500MB cap.

They agreed to offer change my plan to an iPhone plan equivalent with 1GB and wi-fi for the same price (£40pm)

I wasn't intending to cancel just looking for a compromise.

I hope you're getting that in writing, 191 have a reputation for promising things and then "forgetting" them, they'll probably deny any knowledge of agreeing to this.

Sorry not relevant but had to add this off a new 'happy vodafone customers' thread
    http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/59715-happy-desirevodafone-customers/page__gopid__389241&#entry389241

Unsurprisingly it hasn't been closed even though it doesn't meet the forum T&C!

No ain't got time to read it all. I have read several articles about this on the net.

There really is not much anyone can do other than move to another network when your contract ends.

Again you're wrong about it, people are doing things and believe Vodafone has acted illegally in changing it's T&C. It's nothing to do with what other networks do. It's specifically related to NEW conditions Vodafone is arbitrarily bringing in on June 1st 2010.

Indeed - it wouldn't be a problem if they brought the changes only for new contracts from 1st June, but they want to apply this to existing contracts, thus changing the T&Cs (even though they're saying they're not)

They've already changed the price plan - I've double checked on My Account online.

As well as having an extra 500MB, they have thrown in Wi-Fi. Just one call and I've gained :j

Is that 10% get out really appropriate? I signed up to my contract verbally since i knew i would be getting a new job where i wouldn't be on location with wifi available so i knew that it would be up to 6months before i needed to use the mobile internet package properly.

Currently my use is minimal, but since i had to take the deal then and there i took them up on it. I fail to see why i should be penalised because i haven't been abusing the system. If i had been doing so i could rightly cancel, then go and sign up for a new contract and get a new Android 2.1 phone.

If i simply use several hundred megabytes on the remainder of this month pushing my £20 a month (should be £17.50 but that's another cockup story) then will i be eligible since i'll only need £2 a month increase to satisfy the 10% requirement.

Frankly i'm not very happy at this point. I have been offered £20 credit on my account because of the discrepancy between the deal i was offered - but the mistake has cost me £45 over the course of the contract!

Copied from the (not me) eForum: Worked for me, Just been on phone with voda cancellations and they said yes you are allowed to cancel if this change will increase your bill by more than 10% email or write in and we will sort it. Email already sent, giffgaff here i come, no fair use policy at all from now on.

t-mobile already have a capped data feature on their account settings.

No, they don't. T-Mob have either 1GB or 3GB FUP.

No caps at all and only a throttling provision for heavy abusers.
