I think we can safely assume that vodafone are going to make it as difficult as they can for people to cancel (even those that are disadvantaged by more than 10%) by recycling bad information and hoping we give up.

I'm sure that's their plan, though they might not make it too difficult (it's all relative of course) for people who are aware of it and have been emailing them to complain from the word go. I do really feel sorry for people who don't know about the new system yet and only will when they get the "you have exceeded your monthly allowance" text...

The guy I spoke to in their Hellmand Province call centre...

Quietly p*ssing myself at work after reading that!

In terms of people moving to the 1GB plan, Voda warned you may lose discounts etc alrady on your plan. I'm on a £40 plan with the Desire, with a 50pc discount running the length of the contract.

Now obv its not worth me switching to 1GB if they turn round and say ok, but you'll have to pay £40 now instead of £20...so just wondering if anyone in a similar situation has tried switching and what they actually said?

Also is the 1GB the same as 500MB...i.e. will going over it result in the three texts etc before being charged?

    Thanks

I can't imagine that Vodafone would be so stupid as to try and move somebody like you over to the 1gb hard limit tariff - i'm in a similar boat to you but on a £35 a month tariff with a 50% retentions discount.

Clearly if offered 1gb hard limit for £35 a month with discount i would suggest that the person offering it take a long walk off a short pier!

I say that i can't imagine it - but then given recent events it might just happen!

I am on the same tariff as you (£40 with 50% discount), they didn't say there'd be a problem with the discount, but there wasn't a tariff with 1Gb data AND Unlimited texts.

So, they added the Unlimited texts separately and then applied the 50% discount.

My online account shows as £40 inc VAT without the Unlimited texts, but I have not been charged for any texts since applying this tariff, so it appears they're just not visible.

The discount, I will find out about in a few days when my next bill is produced, but I have it in writing in case there's a problem.

lol I was told I could keep my unlimited texts but that there wasn't a tariff with 1GB data AND unlimited landlines. They are obviously just making things up as they go along... nothing new there.

    Edit:

    Email 1 received 2/06:
I can now confirm that the package has now been changed to include 1GB data each month.
You still have 1200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited landline calls on your contract, the discount has stayed the same, as well as your contract length, there is no need to change anything other than the data limit.

    Email 2 received 4/06:
First of all I would like to apologise, the new price plans don't include the unlimited land lines, so the plan I set up did not save.
If you would like to go over to the new plan, it has 1200 minutes, unlimited texts 1GB of data, you are also able to have 5MB of data every day free of charge while you are in Europe. The new CTR5 packages do not come with unlimited landline calls, there is no option to add this onto the account either.

That's the part i personally despise - they'll act like they are being totally honest with you, doing you a favour, and then you read about a better offer elsewhere.

They really should have sorted out exactly what they are prepared to give, and then set a policy on it, send out a memo to all relevant staff - instead you get told one thing by one person, and then talk to somebody else and get told something else - despite both of them swearing blind that "this is it!"
  • I have just received a 2nd text message warning about going over 500mb. I did not get a warning message when approaching 500 and have got my second after hitting 1200.

Has anyone else received 2or more texts or been contacted to discuss changing tariff? Or even been told that then are going to be charged?

Im wondering if they will even bother or just allow me to continue my usage as it has been used on my 'unlimited' data tariff.

guess you guys have seen this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2549227. it wont be long before some vodafone customer who bought under the old scheme with 500mb fup and now automatically moved to 500mb hard cap gets shafted like in this thread linked above if unilateral contract changes go unchallenged affecting customers retrospectively. best of luck guys who ever is fighting these retrospective changes to contracts of existing customers.

Well i can now at last put to bed being billed the wrong amount for my Vodafone contract each month. I'm finally being correctly billed at £35 a month with a 50% retentions discount to give me a bill of £17.50 including VAT for 600mins, Unlimited Texts(3000 above which 12p per message), and Mobile Internet (500Mb FUP).

This has taken me more than 6 months to achieve, phone calls to 191 each and every month since i renewed with Vodafone in January, and then in May & June many many phone calls to 191, emails and phone calls to the Vodafone Directors office with assistance from Amanda Jackson, and then Karen Johnsons brief involvement, before my account queries were taken up by Tom Rushton head of the webteam, and the passed over to Lee Saunders who i have been dealing with for the last few weeks.

    This is the most recent contact i have had;
    Hi Chris,

Further to my voicemail message a moment ago.

As promised, I've checked your account today to make sure that everything is in order in regard to your line rental discount and am pleased to be able to confirm that it is.

Due to your previous experiences I will keep an eye on this next month as well to make sure things continue as they have on your June bill.

In acknowledgement of your dissatisfaction with the level of service you had previously received in regard to this matter I have arranged for the balance of your June bill to be adjusted in full as a goodwill gesture. As such, your account balance currently stands at zero.

    Kind regards,

    Lee Saunders

So after all of this messing around, over paying more than 15% a month, waiting 6months for a refund on Saturday Delivery that i paid for, and spending many many hours in contact with Vodafone all the way up to the highest levels of their customer service i have been given a goodwill gesture of clearing my balance for June.

All £17.50 of it. How f**king generous of them!

By my estimation it amounts to around 20-30% of the national minimum wage to argue and debate with Vodafone staff to get what they sold me.

I still expect to be charged for Mobile Internet "excessive" data use as per the recent statements, and going on current use that'll be £10 a month for two lots of 500mb, pushing my bill up from £17.50 to £27.50 for the remaining year i am contracted as a customer. An increase of 40-50% over what i was sold in direct competition with a T-Mobile equivalent tariff with 3gb a month of mobile internet.

I'm going to do what i can to leave without penalty, and i'm going to persuade as many people as i can in future to join up with any network other than Vodafone.

Congratulations Vodafone, you really have no grasp on Customer Service, and even when repeatedly given the chance to sort things out you still can't manage it.

    Well done. :T

Glad they've finally sorted out your billing... but frankly a whole £17.50 goodwill gesture to make up for all the hassle you've had in the past few months?! I'd find that more insulting that if they'd given nothing.

Oh and saw your recent post on the eForum in the "why have received a text saying..." thread, made me chuckle :D
