That's certainly interesting to hear N201YD - that's presumably confirmed to you by email?
How long have you been a customer with Vodafone? How much of your existing contract did you have left, and what tariff & phone were you on if you don't mind?
It seems pretty clear that you aren't prepared to be fobbed off, so they are letting you out of it without penalty - which is of course what they should do.
Who are you dealing with at Vodafone? I have Lee checking my account on the 25th to ensure that the discount on my line rental is correct - this time i believe it will be as calls to 191 enquiring about it have now finally started having the correct amount. After confirming that it is no longer an issue i am expecting to be given an offer of a goodwill gesture. God knows what that will be. I'd prefer just to get away from Vodafone and give somebody else a try - at the end of the day i've been dealing with the highest levels of customer service that Vodafone have and am not satisfied with the way that they handle things. As such i have no reason to believe that it would be improved at all in the future.
Would be interested in confirming some of this off board if you don't mind? PM me maybe?
That's certainly interesting to hear N201YD - that's presumably confirmed to you by email? Yes, confirmed in two emails that i will not have to pay any penalty.

Have had an account with them for a number of years, not sure exactly but i guess 7 at least. I was 12 months into an 18 month deal (htc magic) £25pm for 600 mins 'unlimited' texts & internet.
Do you mind me asking the procedure you used to achieve this? I just made as much fuss as possible.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
I have just received my first warning......even though when I emailed Vodafone a few weeks ago I was told new capping would not affect me.
What's my best course of action now?
I'm 10 months into 18 month contract, a customer many years.0 -

I've said it before (and no doubt will again) - Vodafone have really gone down hill in the last few years. Their CS is sadly lacking, their deals generally not appealing in the main and their arrogant (as a company) attitude that they deserve your custom and that you'd be mad to go elsewhere.
I know their woes are industry wide and affect all networks to some extent but Vodafone to me have fallen the most - a lot of laurel sitting methinks.

Per your question my suggestion would be to "get through" your contract trying just to be wary of your data usage etc and then hunt around for a more appropriate deal based on your preffered new usage and phone - I would seriously doubt the chances of getting out of an 18 month after 10 month. But good luck anyway whatever choice you make.!
P.S. After reading some more of this thread I take back what I said above. Give them hell.0 -
I have just come off the phone following a helpful chat with an advisor at OTELO. They informed me that OTELO are not in a position to investigate this at the moment as T&Cs state that Vodafone are in a position to make changes. Where OTELO may be of assistance later on is if Vodafone fail to provide the necessary notice period for the introduction of the changes, or if they fail to inform you of your right to terminate the agreement without penalty if the changes put you at a disadvantage.
The 10% increase on the previous month alluded to in 11.2.c is something set by Vodafone and does not necessarily have to apply for you to cancel without penalty. If you can demonstrate that the changes will put you at a significant material disadvantage at some stage in the remainder of your agreement with Vodafone then that will suffice as reason enough to cancel. What this means is that if, in the month preceding the introduction of the changes, you incur additional costs which would mean that the changes would not result in a 10% increase based on previous month's usage you still may be able to cancel if you can show that that month's usage is not you normal usage.
Hope this is helpful.

The message was as follows;40506: You have exceeded your monthly 500MB data allowance. You may find a priceplan with a higher data allowance more suitable. Please call customer services for more information. To stop these messages Text STOP to 40506. You have not been charged0
