Yolina - it means that they are not notifying ALL customers of charges, despite the statement on the eForum. What they are doing is saying that IF you are contacted and informed of charges applying to your account, you will be given 14days notice. I have been told that this will be by phone, whereas the warnings of data use will be by text. I have read mention that it might be a text informing you of the 14days notice, but this is not what Lee from Vodafone has expressly told me.

I take this as meaning that they will be unlikely to actually try to notify anybody of charges if they have made a point of enquiring, as those are the people most likely to make use of their right to refuse to change tariff at that point, and then exercising their right to cancel without penalty.

    That's just my opinion though.

All i know is that i will be using the service i was sold as i was sold it and as advised on the eForum until a month ago, and i will continue to pay £17.50 a month. If i get warned of charges then i'll be leaving to go elsewhere.

I have just received my PAC and been informed i will not have to pay an early termination fee.

They didnt admit to breaking the contract or anything like that i think it was more down to me being a pain in the !!!!.
I understand that you wish to cancel your account Mr xxxxx, on further review of the situation I will agree to release you from your contract without penalty. I have made this decision as the relationship between yourself and Vodafone appears to have been damaged beyond repair.

If you require a PAC code to move your number to another provider please let me know or please confirm a convenient date for your account to be cancelled.

Chris, I think your post should have been addressed to Vixmony, not me :p

And well done N20Y1D :D means you can grab a sim-free deal from O2 before the new ones (with limited data) are launched on the 24th
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

try beebplayer, bbc iplayer etc. youtube is compressed, so try any website that does not compress the videos and videos are of high quality.

  • I'm at nearly 700mb for the month and have not received any text warnings. Does this mean I'm still on an 'unlimited' package?

If I'm am, then great, because I have no intention of paying an extra £5.

Can anyone advise me about O2's network for data?
I'm considering leaving Voda, and I've already had two warning texts about exceeding my limit for this month, so I expect I'll get the same next month, and then be able to cancel penalty-free the following month.

In the meantime, I'm considering taking out an O2 Sim-only 12mth contract before 24th June (when THEY cap their data for new customers).

I was with O2 2yrs ago, but didn't use data hardly at all. I've also read on the net about O2's data network falling over 4x last year...

Is it generally reliable now? And speeds decent? I live in Ipswich, Suffolk, not in a major city.

Indeed you are right Yolina - sorry about that - honest mistake.

That's certainly interesting to hear N201YD - that's presumably confirmed to you by email?

How long have you been a customer with Vodafone? How much of your existing contract did you have left, and what tariff & phone were you on if you don't mind?

It seems pretty clear that you aren't prepared to be fobbed off, so they are letting you out of it without penalty - which is of course what they should do.

Who are you dealing with at Vodafone? I have Lee checking my account on the 25th to ensure that the discount on my line rental is correct - this time i believe it will be as calls to 191 enquiring about it have now finally started having the correct amount. After confirming that it is no longer an issue i am expecting to be given an offer of a goodwill gesture. God knows what that will be. I'd prefer just to get away from Vodafone and give somebody else a try - at the end of the day i've been dealing with the highest levels of customer service that Vodafone have and am not satisfied with the way that they handle things. As such i have no reason to believe that it would be improved at all in the future.

Would be interested in confirming some of this off board if you don't mind? PM me maybe?

Do you mind me asking the procedure you used to achieve this?
