O2 UK "unlimited" web bolt on limit is 200MB

Hi vicx it's here on this page ...
http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/tariffsandboltons
Thanks for that, I stand 'semi' corrected as it would appear to depend on what tariff the user is on originally, as another T&C on the link suggets an average of less than 3gb per month fair usage.
I think O2 just include that to cover themselves and if one uses the service reasonably then they have no fear, only person I know that had the service removed was my younger brother, but then he was spending all the time downloading from P2P sites to build a dvd collection (now that is money saving gone mad)
:eek:0 -
On the phone today, 01/05/10, I was categorically told that the limit is 200MB (not 2GB). This was the first time anyone on the phone was actually able to give me a number.
The guy on the phone yesterday had no idea what the fair use limit was, even after asking his manager. All the information he could give me was "we're told to say its totally unlimited when we sell it".
I was probably using about 1GB per month. The application of their fair use policy seems a bit random though. My brother is on the same tariff using about the same amount of data as me. He recieved a warning text saying he'd gone over his unlimited limit a month or 2 ago. He phoned up customer services and no-one had a clue what the limit was then, so they eventually told him to just ignore the text.
Note I'm not saying I was charged any extra for data usage - it was just cut off without warning, with no way of getting my internet access back until my next bill (had I not cancelled).
The whole problem is it's next to impossible to find relevant information about your own tariff - customer services are generally in the dark too. I have no idea if this affects PAYG customers in the same way, or if it affects iPhone or Blackberry customers.
If it was stated somewhere that the unlimited data limit was 200MB in the first place, I never would have paid £7.50 for it. T-Mobile do 1GB for £5.0 -

And quite rightly so, I wonder if the new limits are for new customers as I still get 1=4 for text messages and video calls included, my usage is reduced this month only due to having got a 3 sim zero with data and that was being hammered instead of the O2, but will be back to using my phone halfway through this month.0 -
I have just had another look through the terms and cond's.
The following quote which was posted above is from the Pay and Go Bolt on terms and cond's- The O2 Web Bolt On allows you unlimited use (subject to this excessive usage policy) of Telef!nica O2 UK's GPRS/ 3G networks (as applicable to your handset), for personal internet use via your mobile phone. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may not use your SIM Card in, or connected to, any other device including modems;
- to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable Voice over Internet (Voip), P2P or file sharing; or
- in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers.
- If O2 reasonably suspects you are not acting in accordance with this policy (including where you use an atypical volume of data as compared to normal users of the O2 Web Bolt On, which will normally be less than 200MB of usage within a one month period), O2 reserves the right to impose standard browsing charges (see www.o2.co.uk for details), impose network protection controls which may reduce your speed of transmission, remove the O2 Web Bolt On from your account or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to contact you first.
If you scroll near the bottom of this page: http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/tariffsandboltons you will see the Pay monthly (simplicity included) terms and cond's. It does not state anywhere about unlimited data having a fair usuage policy of 200MB.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

I'm quite pleased to be away from O2 now, as I've just signed up to a 30 day SIM only contract with T-mobile for £15 a month. They waived the extra £5 fee for their Android internet package, so I'm saving £2.50 a month compared to O2 and have 3GB of fair usage. (Their standard package is 1GB).
Not only that, but I'm getting 350 minutes instead of 150. Texts are the same at 300.
Apart from the agro and having no internet on my phone over the bank holiday weekend, O2 shafting me has worked out quite well. :beer:0 -

If my operator moaned that I was flogging their ridiculous FUP and stopped my internet they can stop the whole deal, talk time, texting the lot and I'd go elsewhere.0

Exactly, and Pay & Go and contracts are not the same.
But there always seem to be some people perpetually spreading the false myth that O2 has this limit on contracts.
Hi redux,
I'm curious about this false myth if it is one ?
Are you saying that O2 do not have an "excessive usage policy" and are you saying that the people who have their bolt on stopped or added charges are not being truthfull ?
What are the differences on the T&C's between a prepay bolt on and a post pay one regarding excessive use ?It's not just about the money0 -

The woman on customer services was spreading a false myth? It was the reason for stopping the internet on my contract. Not PAYG - simplicity tariffs are not PAYG.0
