  • No he wasn't, he's described my circumstances and replied to me saying I had paid my mortgage off.
No B-S I wasn't replying to you, if some of what I posted seems similar its coincidence
I have read your high and mighty posts and find what I read makes my bile rise, you yourself must be reported daily, the posts in particular to Victory are a joy. Take from this what you care to read, I couldn't care less if I offend, now that sounds similar.
You post and repost how mortgage free you are but never impart some information that may help scores of people and guess where you post, in a money saving forum.
I am an unknown to you and I hate the thought I have helped you pay off your mortgage through my tax payment through a benefits system. Your admission on this thread that you have claimed
Don't anyone get me wrong, when disability, illness or inital poverty circumstances make you turn to the benefit system I will gladly work 50 hours to pay in but when I read I only get £18 extra a week then its a system gone mad. I am not a single parent, I am fed up tho of working hard long hours to keep you. The day has got to dawn of payback.

You are just sooooooo right! I have no alarm clock as the littlest littlie wakes me up bang on 5.45am ready to be fed, changed and play, play, play (I don't mind, as i have to get up sometime, and littlest littlie is really cute and gurgly at this un-godly hour of the morning)...
Then I have all good intentions to be in bed for midnight...and by the time i get my jobs done, work done and even (heaven forfend) wasting a few minutes chatting on line or doing compies (I am a complete compie addict) then it's 1.30 am and yet another late night...
I try and work on the theory that mums don't need as much sleep as the rest of the human race, but have my doubts at times:p

I'm a very sociable person and have lots of friends, and a few friends that I am so close to I consider them to be family, but they all have families of their own and at night they are at home with their kids (and SO if they have one) and I am at home with my kids. Bed time to morning is a long and lonely time when you are on your own, if it wasn't for the internet I think I would be a raving loony by now (and some people would say I already am LOL) It's my sanity and my downfall. I spend far too many late nights on this thing!

That's a good point...at what age do little boys develop the remote flicking habit? Is it genetically inherited? Is there a parenting book with techniques to deal with it?
I think I will try some aversion therapy...now DS loathes butternut squash...sooooooo...if i cover the remote in pureed butternut squash and give it to him to play with?????
(Lets face it, most things in my house have been covered in butternut squash or similar at some point (we had a marmite event this afternoon:eek: ) so a tad on the remote wouldn't make any difference...

I know!!!! My ds is only 5 and he already walks into the room and automatically looks for the remote....what is that all about, is it in the male DNA to be in control of the tv at all times or something? :rotfl:

Luckily the girls out number the boys in this house (me and his sister) so between us we might teach him some remote restraint lol

That is just so true. Thanks for that. I try and keep busy (well, don't need to try, I've always got stacks to do), but it can get quiet sometimes. I love the internet and my "virtual" friends and acquaintances. Because of some stuff that's happened in my life, i'm quite scared of making "real life" friends, and I find the internet gives me people to talk to, and virtual support, but in an undemanding way.
The stuff I read on MSE gives me some things to think about during the day as well - otherwise all i'd think about would be the children and making money. It's nice to be honest on here as well - I have awful problems asking for help or admitting I'm down, and wouldn't dream of telling people in real life, but feel okay "talking" on here...you lovely MSErs you:T

I think it is genetically inherited. Don't waste your time with aversion therapy either, they WILL find a way round it. Most successful tactic with me was putting the batteries in the wrong way. :rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
You know I've read through every single post on this now and I've forgotten what the original post was about - RAFLMAO!!!!!

Anyway - i just wanted to add my voice to the clamour -being a threadkiller should shut it right down:rotfl:

I'm a single mum with 2 boys - 6 & 11. The eldest has ADHD and other stuff going on - back to the shrink on Thursday - finally off the 2 yr waiting list!

I worked from 16 until I had my youngest - 35. I worked almost all the way through my first pregnancy and then went back to work when he was 2 months old, I nearly had a breakdown after a year of that as I always kept volunteering for OT to pay the mortgage until I finally convinced the no good bf then to move out and pay me maintenance - He's ok about it now and pays up voluntarily.

My ex hubby however - HAH!!!!!! He's registered blind with a Guide Dog and until we got married managed to live on his own with no problems whatsovever. The moment we got married he became unable to cook or clean, then without discussion accepted a promotion which meant moving from Exeter to the Midlands. After 2 years of emotional abuse and on one occasion, physical, I booted him out, after finding out he was seeing someone else. He's now quit his job, got some other poor girl up the duff and has announced that he can't be arsed to get a job as he then has to pay me maintenance and besides - why shoud he?? He's disabled!! GGGAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

We had just secured a council house luckily so at least I didn't have to worry about keeping a roof over our heads. Then found out through many visits from Bailiffs etc, that he so many debts - and he didn't bother letting me know about them but again, luckily I wasn't involved in them,.

I had a look on UCAS, found out about student loans and CTC etc etc, and now I'm about to start my 3rd year of a degree. I have a bf but we don't live together and he doesn't contribute financially at all, apart from treating me to a meal out occasionally. I get £30/week IS in the sumnmer break and Full HB then as well. As a student I get full exemption from Council Tax.
In the term I get my full loan, 85% of my childcare costs back as a grant, parental learning grant (about £1400/yr) and just under £100CTC/week. Oh and £20/week HB so I still pay out £50/week rent.

I do ok, I'll admit, but it is still hard. I have a credit card that I pay off when it's grant time and run up a bit for holiday times. I Ebay useless stuff and books that I've finished with. I use the library all the time and cook from scratch. The worst part is that I can't be contacted when I'm at college as my phone has to be off and reception can't track down individual students. I'm at Uni in Brum and home is close to Leamington, so it's not like I can just race home - full hour near enough by the time I've got the train and then the bus.

When I've graduated, I'm going to either UCE or Wolverhampton (more nightmare travelling) to do my post compulsory PGCE so that I can become a lecturer.

This last 6 years whilst I've not been working (in a job that is - lol) have been great but I can't wait to get back into the swing of working again. Even at Uni all my 'friends' are at least 20 years younger than me - some of their mums are younger!!! Eldest DS keeps nagging me to let him look after youngest at home when I'm not there:eek:  Don't think so yet matey!!!

Cheers everyone for your replies.. Although I havent logged in :o I have been watching...

As someone mentioned.. and I apologise , for not knowing the posters name. I have tried Buisness Link.. they offered me £ 1000 in increments of .. £300.. £400.. and another £ 300..

I need £ 900 a week for advertising for at least 6 weeks.. Yes I know its a lot , but if you put it into perspective..I can stop claiming benefit. and pay it back.. Which I dont mind at all..

Best explain the £900.00.. An advert the size of a " playing card" in the property section of my local paper costs this on a Friday.. ( or I can go for a £35.00 per week ad in the local Freebie.. Which as Ive found generates no interest). The Property section on a Friday is well read, by buyers & sellers.. ..
