If i can do it anyone can? It's tough if you have under 5's, but otherwise get that part time job and see how your life changes. I have no child care problems, i work school term time. So why not put your name down for a school job or similar?
Hopefully when/if i meet someone in the future, i will be able to come of benefits altogether, that is my next aim.
There is nothing better then earning your own money and my kids can see the difference in me too:D
I enjoy getting up in the mornings getting ready for work etc.
Mentally working is better.
I do feel that us single mums don't get a chance with critics, they seem to blame us, but it takes two to make a baby, and without that baby we wouldn't be on benefit.
The mums who become single mums due to their partners leaving them do not have a choice but to live on benefits, they have to for their kids sakes.0 -
TBH folks...I dont give a toss what you claim or how you claim it, whether your committing fraud, have a million A Levels blah blah blah....can we just get back on track of the OP and see whether there are any other options for them take!
Does anyone on this thread have any knowledge of what other help the OP may be entitled too...or is this it for her?Its such a terrible let down that someone here has a great business brain/ideas, but can not get the funding to get it off the ground-or find anyone interested!
I am in a situation where I am unable to work ATM but cant wait to get back. I miss working so much! Personally, I dont understand why people choose not to work if they can-especially if they are so well educated and live on the bread line...makes no sense to me when they could be earning a very good wage!
My dd is 11 and she is counted as "disabled" as she is partially sighted (legally blind in one eye) but we have always worked even though we could have claimed years ago. She knows that she will be like this forever but she also knows that she has to work to live. Yes, she could claim benefits in her own right when she is older, but I want better than that for her. She has alot of potential and we have never let her disability stop her doing anything. I think as good parents we need to teach our children that it is healthy for them to work.
Ive probably offended someone and apologise if I have, but all this bickering is getting silly and we need to keep some focus to this thread!
Good Luck OP. PM me as if you would like a chat or vent!
Hugs

Not everyone is suitable for teaching, even if they are intelligent, not everyone wants to do it - and what happens to your children when they are off sick? You can't book leave, you can only have the school holidays. Not the 'easy choice' you make it out to be.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

:T :T but it's always been easier to pick on the single MUMS. It's not unusual for men to walk away from their responsibilities, so no one really comments on it, but the venom has to go somewhere so it gets aimed at the Mums :mad0 -
Hi, OP...i don't know if you've spoken to Business Link about your business idea? They usually have some fairly sensible advice, and depending on what area you're in, there may well be small amounts of money available as a business loan for start up costs (I believe they're written off if the business fails, but are subject to production of a business plan etc, which the Business Link advisor could help you with).
I work mainly from home, but have child care two mornings a week for meetings etc (mine are pre-schoolers). This works pretty well for me, as i'm as near to being a SAHM as I can be whilst still earning a living. I do most of my work in the evenings when the littlies are in bed. The sleep deprivation is a killer, but hopefully things will get easier as littlies get older and start school.
I am a single parent, and having read this whole thread find it very sad that there's so much back biting and nastiness in it. Regardless of being on benefits or working or a combination, bringing up children on your own is really, really hard work, and I say well done to all the single mums out there doing a great job.0 -

one other bad thing about being a single parent....your kids bring you prezzies of sweets and you have to eat them all by yourself.....I'm fat enough as it is.
My ds has just found the half a bag of midget gems he gave me at the weekend and is very upset that I haven't eaten them yet lol I can't palm them off to his dad so I'm sat here eating them now
Its a tough job :A
(just trying to lighten the mood btw)
