I've fluttered on betting at sports events and had a bit dabble on the stock market in the past, but lost more that I won

    Definitely not recommended :D

  • Thankyou - it doesnt have anything to do with the DSS.
Unless your mortgage was paid off with savings that may have affected your benefit at the time of receipt, as always dodging the question now, so quick to belittle other posters. AFAIA a mortgage is over 30k anything less is viewed as a personal loan nowadays. Perhaps your area is well below the national average as regards property prices and values. Its obviously irrelevant to the OP's post, quite apart, the OP states how life is pure drudge, with little to acheive. Theres only a bleak view. Black Saturn has a very different outcome on a single family wage and needs to be comended, if its all above board only she declines to tell us how to do it.

Are we all refering to the same 'business' that is apparently none of mine? I am referering to the information that is posted publically, and willingly. If you post your personal affairs on a public message board and things don't seem to add up, people will ask questions.

Don't post things you don't want to discuss.

Right, have deliberately stayed out of this up to now becuse I felt it was turning into a bit of an (un-intentional) witch hunt

Black Saturn has been asked many times how she managed to pay off her mortgage in 5 (?) years whilst on benefits, i think by most people, because they want to know if they can replicate this. Others, myself included are sceptical of a lot of stuff that she says, that is our choice with no facts to suggest otherwise!

She obviously doesn't want to answer at this moment, or ever so I suggest we drop Black Saturn as a subject for now and get back to the original post topic.

If Black Saturn then decides that she wants to tell us all then she is of course welcome to, if not, it will forever remain a mystery.

    Regards

  • Thanks for that Becles, sadly on my bro's paltry income and whatever crumbs the govt throws them they wouldn't be able to afford to buy in this area. Neither would they want to move out of the area as they wouldn't want to take the two oldest boys out of school, or lose the support of the family, which helps the sister-in-law with twin toddlers when my bro's out grafting his bits off to pay for them all!!
He's given up on the local council as most properties are now privatley owned, there is a council owned 3 storey house in my mams street- which is occupied by a single pensioner, he's offered to do a swop but she won't so he's stuck in a small 2 bed with 4 kids sharing a room. But at least they have each other.....

I'd like to echo these comments and remind people that this shouldnt be turning into any sort of personal issue. I would also say that people have a right to ask questions and make comments based on what they have read and whilst this thread shouldnt be about anyone in particular, i want to remind everyone that by posting on a public forum, others will naturally form opinions based on what is said.

There are ways to make your points without getting personal, and perhaps its time for everyone to take a step back and consider the actual reason for this thread. We are all moneysavers here and whilst opinions can differ (which we have no issue with), personal comments often lead to arguments and get threads closed.

It's a two way street, but in both directions our rule is still "Please Be Nice To Other Moneysavers".

I notice that you frequently visit your boyfriend in London, leaving your children behind. You've also mentioned holidays to places like Germany and Amsterdam with your boyfriend, again leaving the children behind.
    I'm interested in your comment:
I was just wondering why you think it's acceptable to dump your children while you go off with your boyfriend, but find it unacceptable for mothers to use childcare so they can work?
I just wanted to answer this. Not once have I ever left my children behind when I have visited my boyfriend. They go there with me every weekend. I admist I went on a 3 night break to Amsterdam (which I won) and a 3 night break to Germany (which was £99 for 2 of us) but I left my children with their grandparents. I am with my children all the rest of the time and never leave them with a childminder at all to do anything. So why is this so bad?

BS don't worry about it, as long as you love your children that is all that matters. We all need time on our own sometimes, it's not selfish to go away without your kids. We need a break sometimes ourselfs:D
