For what it's worth - admittedly I'd bought a Nokia 2323 but intended on using my Desire - was happy with 1GB, but not happy about the speed restriction which I couldn't find details about anywhere.

I phoned up and after a few days of "should be ok tomorrow, switch your phone on and off again", asked why I couldn't get speeds above ~350kbps. They couldn't answer but promised me a call back within two hours, which was forthcoming - the manager (very polite) insisted that I was on the 1GB plan which didn't give higher speeds. I said I was happy with the 1GB limit but could he please point me to the relevant ts&cs on the T-mobile website which showed that my speed would be capped - I'd done research before taking out an 18 month contract but couldn't find anything - he then admitted that he didn't have anything to hand but would call me back the same day.

He did - and quoted me the bit from the ts&cs about T-Mobile being able to "restrict speeds...according to conditions...". I pointed out that this was vague and that I would like to escalate. Immediately he said he would enable my account to give me unrestricted speeds and have the legal team look into this and get back to me by last Friday - no-one has phoned, and I've had full HSDPA speeds since...

My advice would be for people to call and stick to their guns. No-where does it specifically state in any of their literature about restricted speeds, and if you ask you will get.

T-Mobile if you're reading this, I'm expecting your call tomorrow!

Just stumbled across this thread and am a little confused. I'm a current Tmob customer, and will be upgrading by the end of the month as my contract's almost up. I do intend to go for an Android handset. I say upgrade, I may well end up as a new customer if the deal is better. I was quite interested in this:

18 months T-mob £25 a month 300 mins and texts, then with the internet free booster. Are you saying that I will actually get 3gb internet (if I call up and negotiate) free on top of my booster? So I could have internet and another booster free?

Also would someone mind explaining how upgrading through a reseller such as bmp works? I don't get how you can do an upgrade other than by calling T-mobile up direct or going instore etc.

hi i upgraded through buymobilephones.net on t-mobile if you upgrade through them you will get the same benefits as upgrading through t-mobile directly! if you go as a new customer through this site you will only get the one booster instead of the 2 if you upgrade through them!

Ok thanks. So, erm, forgive me but what's the point of upgrading through them rather than T-mob direct?
