Now when I tried to get it changed by phoning 150 I got the no we cant do that as you bought it from CPW. So the next day I e-mailed the t-mobile cs team and had a callback in 30 mins saying they dont normally, but they will put me on a special promotion for the 3gb, and they then said I could change my internet booster to some other booster.

So try 150 1st if no luck then e-mail the CS team and try. Also, the 1.2 to 1.8 will depend mind where you are when you use the internet. I get 1.8 when I am at home, but when I go 10 miles down the road I only get 1.3. And some places I dont that speed, but the slower speeds. It all depends where you are when you use the service I think.

Thanks for the tips, I might order it 2moro (a few things I want to ask Mobile Phones Direct over live chat) and if I get it soon I might say that before I ordered it I checked and it said it was on all contracts or something like that and try to talk to a supervisor, if that does not work I will email, and possible try CS again to get on the phone to someone whos having a good day :)

I have had various speeds upto about 2Mbps however sometimes I have had as low as <100Kbps and I had to to call CS to get it checked out and since then I am getting upwards from 1Mbps.

I might go for it then, one last question (yes I know ive asked a lot, but i dont want to be stuck in a rubbish contract for 24 months)

Does anyone know what the throtteled speed is?

and what the normal speed is?

Want to know if its still useable in the worst case scenario, thanks form members, youve been great help, I might stick around :)

I have just received my new handset from BuyMobilePhones.net on a T-Mobile tariff. So after reading this topic I was rather concerned about the whole 'unlimited internet' and 3rd party seller terms.

So before I committed myself I gave T-Mobile a quick phone call. I requested that as I was new to smart phones I wanted to know what my 'upper limit' would be. They informed that this was 1Gb, so I responded with " I thought Android handsets had an upper limit of 3Gb?! "

This was the response I had:

" You're quite right, it's at the bottom of the account. As an Android or iPhone user, you are on the Web'n'Walk plus which allows you up to 3Gb. "

In response to this I asked about the boosters and whether unlimited internet would still be useful? The response was no, would I like to choose another booster?

So I wanted to share with everyone, that it can be done, although I will be keeping an eye and have taken the name of the CS rep that I spoke to, just to make sure!

    Will keep you updated....

This is GREAT news, I have a contract that has not been used in months (dont ask lol) so retentions are not offering anything really, called BuyMobilePhones and they said there not expecting Desires until the end of september at least!!!!!!

Might start a new contract with MobilePhonesDirect now as they have told me they are expecting stock first week of September.

    What tariff are you on?
Or are you saying you have a tariff with data but you added an internet booster as well?

    They ordered from Buymobilephones.net

and I guess got put on a WebXXX (XXX repesenting the mins) tarrif, on 3rd party resellers they foolishly set you free flexible booster at unlimited web data even tho web is free on that tarrif.

I have just got my phone moved over to the 3GB FUP on the second attempt. The first time I complained about slow data speeds and they just reset my account and told me it was because the network was busy, and that I didn't qualify for the 3GB FUP.

This time I told the nice lady that I had discovered on various forums that the 1GB FUP was throttled but this wasn't mentioned anywhere in their t&cs or on their website, so it wasn't really fair to do so. She tried the "must be bought from t-mobile only" thing and said "thanks for the feedback, I will pass it on to the relevent department" but I put my foot down and said I wasn't calling to give feedback, I was calling because my "Unlimited" Internet was being bandwidth limited and this was causing it to be unusable at times. At that point she switched me over to the Web n Walk Plus for free, and I now get the full 2MBps downloads. The web browser is noticeably faster now by a long margin.

I'd assume that when you purchase an Android or iPhone handset that you should be placed on the Web'n'Walk automatically, but do check with T-Mobile when you get a new handset.

I wasn't aware of the Web'n'Walk when I bought the handset and initially thought I needed the internet booster to allow me to use the internet.

So I've benefitted in getting the 3Gb allowance and swapping my booster to something else.

One question - how am I able to check what speeds I am getting on the Wildfire?

Sorry pressed return too soon! I'm looking at Desire on T mobile. What's the delivery time like and what does 'unlimitrd internet' actually mean?
    Lauren says:
We are expecting them in stock at the beginning of September and it is 1GB
    xxxxsays:
Thanks - so the internet isn;t the 3gb for Android phones that t mobile advertise on their own site?
    Lauren says:
It is for Android phones but others it is 1GB
    xxxxsays:
So can you confirm it is 3gb for a HTC Desire or Wildfire?
    Lauren says:
    Yes
    xxxxsays:
    Thanks
    Lauren says:

I received my mobile last week, on Friday. After tests my speed was maximum 350 kbps download and 110 kbps upload. On Monday I called on 150 and I spoke with a nice lady, I complained about the speed. She checked and told me I have 1 GB limit, my response was that with Android mobile I should have high speed internet and 3GB download allowance. She agreed and after a few minutes she told me it was sorted. After this I used a speed test and my transfer increased up to 1940 kbps download and 718 kbps upload so far.
But I registered on the t-mobile web site and in my plan I have Internet booster and data browsing capping (something like that) ticked. So I don't know what I should have with Web n Walk plus?

sb12 use Speed test from Android Market.

    Regards
