HTC Desire - best deals I've found

Just got this as a new customer direct from Vodafone (I didn't want to muck around with 3rd party cashback stuff TBH):
£25/m x 18m
100mins, 500texts and internet
- basically they waived the £150 initial fee from the deal on their website and reduced the contract length by 6m.
They're out of stock right now and I have 7 days after shipping to cancel if someone knows of a much better deal for a light user.
I see some good simfree prices in this thread but they're quite old and of the links that still work the prices have changed dramatically (e.g. sambasamba's pixmania £379 link is now £450)0 -
What did you ask vodafone for when you phoned them?I phoned them on Sunday, and they would'nt do any sort of deal.0
-
I came right out and said that's what I wanted because I'd seen it on a 3rd party website (link). After a lot of hunting that site seemed to have the best deals for <= £25/m though I've no idea how reliable they are.
Actually I just noticed that site are throwing in a 4gb memory card, V didn't seem to have that much difficulty agreeing to the deal so probably worth giving it a go - at worst it gives you something trivial to drop if they want to haggle.
I should probably point out nothing's arrived in the mail yet so I'm not counting my chickens.0 -
Update, got mine yesterday. It's unlocked and O2 branded. However the branded is extremely minor. Literally all they've done is added a wallpaper, boot logo, and a ringtone. No apps added, no apps removed. :beer:0

vodafone has a 500mb hard cap now for internet, which is ludricruous for a phone like the desire. many other networks have similar caps (three now have reduced cap to 500mb for new contracts, orange as well) but tmobile has 3gb limit for android phones when you buy direct from them or from some resellers. three network have an addon intenet for £5 now giving an additional 2gb, while vodafone gives 500mb only for £5 i think. am so glad i didnt go with vodafone after seeing their latest revision to their terms and conditions affecting internet limits and tarrifs.
it is so easy to shoot the internet limit on phones like the desire so make sure you have something like netcounter app or 3gwatchdog app. i un installed the 3g watchdog app as others reported less battery times when that app was on, so now use netcounter instead. you will certainly need a net usage app while using 3g for data otherwise you will get big bill for data use on the desire phonebubblesmoney :hello:0 -

I mentioned in another thread about them. I ordered my desire from them on the 4th of May (Website boasted that they had the phone in stock when they didn't, shortly changed to say to expect delays) and there was still no sign of stock when I cancelled the order on the 20th. No email updates on when they'd get stock and excuses that changed every time I rang up.
Do a quick google for mobilephonesdirect and htc desire to find some pretty unhappy people.0 -
I got mine from mobilephonesdirect on 8th May, 5 days after I ordered it.
I went for the 600 mins 500 texts tmobile deal, 24 months at £25 per month, £35 quidco cashback. No other cashback to worry about.
Also, I got a free HTC car charger.
I got 2 surprise bonuses!
1) When phone arrived and after I had activated I phoned t-mobile and asked about boosters etc. I was told as I had android phone I would get the 3mb internet booster free and could use my normal free booster on something else - So i got 60 minutes per month of calls to australia / new zealand booster add on free.
2) I seem to have 900 mins rather than 600 mins!
My brother ordered a few days after me and they later sent him a message to him that they would be out of stock until mid june ( although on the web site it says 3 days at the moment) - I would assume a long wait if you order.0 -

Rumour mill seems to be V's limit going to 1gb on the 1 June but we'll see. Anyway I live in a city centre, we have a lot of pubs and they nearly all do free wifi...0 -
Small question - i'm looking to get the Desire but I have 2 months left with my O2 contract.
If I phoned retentions and said I wanted to buy-out the remaining 2 months of my contract, would they be able to offer me a decent deal? I wanted 600min, unlimited texts, internet and a free/highly subsidised phone for around £25-30pm on 18m.0
