The arrangement I have just secured with Vodafone is:

    Free HTC Desire
£35 per month on 18 month airtime. 600 Mins, Unlimited Texts 500MB data

I have also gained £150 from Quidco and £56 from recycling my old Handset

So my effective monthly cost is:

    35 x 18 = 630
    630 - 150 - 56 = 424
    424 / 18 = £23.55 effective monthly cost.

Is this pretty good? This is direct via Vodafone and not a re-seller.

i would have gone for the quidco deal with vodafone but didnt want to opt for the 500mb deal. i asked the online help person if they would do a 3gb deal, he put me on hold and spoke to a manager and said not possible as 500mb is the only deal they can do. i said not enough and to give feed back to vodafone higher ups that if they cant match tmobile offers of 3gb internet for android handsets then they will lose business like mine. if they had offered it then would have mostly switched once my quidco account gets live. (started a quidco account but now having problems logging in as keeps saying pasword wrong even after resetting it. so need to sort that out first).

exploring tmobile now as am !!!!ed off with three as they still havent confirmed any delivery date. blasted three network  cant even give a new delivery date and i just found out today that three seem to have delivered handsets to three shops again and stringing along upgrade customers for 8 days now. plannning on moving to another network if some network can give me confirmed delivery date. vodafone online help person said 1w delivery time for htc desire.

but now vodafone is not an option any longer due to the internet limits for android handset being too little compared to competitors. hope the vodafone reps on here see this thread and give feedback to higherups at vodafone that they are losing customers because of their low internet limits especially for android handsets.

was told by vodafone that 1gb limit for iphone and 500mb limit for other handsets.

was looking through the quidco deals for mobile contract. and found a tmobile one (via quidco) via mobiles. co. uk.

quidco gives £50 for tmobile paymonthly contract. plus for the plan i am looking at
"1200 web 18m plan 40£ a month with 7m half price by cash back
HTC Desire on T-Mobile - FREE!
    Web 1200 (18 Months)
With 1200 mins & 500 texts + Unlimited data per month
Your monthly line rental will be £20.00 per month after redemption
Gadget Phone Support - first month FREE, cancel at any time, £2.99/month.
PhoneCare Insurance - first month FREE, cancel at any time, £7.99/month."
there is no mention of the flexible booster

quidco cash back = £50 plus mobiles. co. uk half price rental 7m cashback(by redemption) 7x£20=£140. total cashback £190. = 10.56£ less per month line rental which works out to 29.5£ a month for 1200web plan via Tmobile (via mobiles. co. uk via quidco). but no where on the webpage can i see a GB limit for internet, it just says unlimited.

i plan on cancelling the gadget support and phone insurance within a few days of getting the phone if i opt for the deal.

but this will depend on how soon they deliver the phone and HOW RELIABLE IS THIS WEBSITE FOR CASHBACK.

Can someone give me feedback on how soon this website delivers HTC desire handsets please and how reliable they are in giving the cashbacks?

Also for porting number the mobiles. co. uk website says
"To transfer your existing mobile number to your new phone please request a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from your current network. Contact your new network with your PAC once your phone has been delivered. You can only port your number is you are changing network providers."
So can i buy this phone through them while keeping my three number till i get the new phone then ask tmobile to port my three number to the new phone already bought. there is no option on the website to port the number directly.

    BUT

the same 1200 plan with web is available directly on tmobile website for 35£ (unlike mobile website where it is 40£) plus there is the free flexible booster and quidco gives £35 cashback and no half price rental for any duration. so this will cost about 33£ a month after quidco cashback. Tmobile website says to allow upto 14 days for delivery!!!

How do you get the quidco cashback when you buy directly from vodafone? I assume this only works with their web prices, not on a deal that I have negotiated with the retentions dept? I am upgrading with them and waiting for the phone to come into stock. When it does, the new contract begins. How do I pay for this via quidco to get the cashback??

You go to the Vodafone eStore via Quidco. Once you are setup Quidco seems to know and £150 appears in your Quidco account.

I think this offer is for new customers or old customers who take out an additional "new" contract. Maybe you could cancel your old one and become a new customer using this system.

With regards to the 500MB limit I have been told by 2 people on the phone and on the eForum at Vodafones website that this is "fair use" so if you go over they will charge no more. I was also told that if people on Android phones regularly use more than this they will have to look at increasing the limit in line with competition.

I am considering using my handset for "tethering" anyway in which case I will be buying additional limit which can be used on the phone or when "tethering".

So far I have been impressed with Vodafone. I purposely rang their "service" line four times and got through to the UK. Yes! That's right THE UK!! That's a big selling point to me. The Vodafone operators knew about browsing limits, the speed I should get in my area and tethering. This is totally unlike T-Mobile I am leaving who push you through to some idiot in the Phillipines who can do no more than tell you your account balance and hang up when the questions get tough.

When I asked for a PAC with T-Mobile they just wouldn't let go so I had to say "look just give me the PAC NOW".

For me leaving T-Mobile because of the mixed messages about browsing limits when you buy from them or via a re-seller and their hopeless overseas call centre, 500MB browsing with VF and a decent service centre is worth far, far more to me than the 3GB limit with T-Mobile.

Cashback is only for new customers.

The only way round it would be to get your pac code, move your number to another networks payg. Start a new contract and then port back in. This does work, but its a bit of a faff and bare in mind Quidco doesn't always work or pay up quickly. The last Voda deal I did through Quidco took 2 years to pay out !!
