HTC Desire - best deals I've found
Comments

I have just rung Vodafone and got the HTC desire on 300 minutes talk, unlimited texts and unlimited internet, for £20 including VAT per month, 24 month contract. Only slight setback was the phone is £99, but I was going to be stung for my current tariff on 1 moonths cancellation so not having to do this, and I get to keep my number.0

So... unless Vodafone can offer me 3GB I'll have no option but to move to t-mobile.
What's the maximum GB allowance forum members have been offered by Vodafone and what was the contract lengh, monthly cost, bundled minutes & texts, free handset model etc ?
You won't get a limit 3Gb from Vodafone. They're now offering a 1Gb limit on most Smartphones inclusing the Desire. In fact the networks trend appears to getting rid of all you can eat tariffs and imposing lower hard caps.
The best deal for the Desire I've seen if you push them hard is 18 months, £20/month, 600 mins/UL texts (3000 FUP), Free phone, 1Gb Limit Internet0 -

Hi...
That deal at £20 seems OK. Maybe 1GB would be enough. I have phoned Vodafone upgrades twice and have been offered the above for £30 a month over 24 months ?
My contract expired at the end of August so I'm assuming I'll get a much better deal within the last 30 days of my contract, I may even have to ask for my PAC code to motivate them to offer me a good deal.
Or... I may just bite the bullet and move to t-mobile and take up there 3 GB offer, though I'd rather stay with Vodafone. I could get 3GB with Vodafone but they charge an extra £15 a month which is expensive.
As I have 2 handsets with them what are the chances that they might do me a deal - £7.50 per month for 3GB per handset, and £20 a month over 18 months for the 600 minutes/text bundle would be OK with me... I might even add Sky TV if they discounted that as well.

Just got it from O2, existing customer.
£285 for handset and switched from my existing monthly tariff to Simplicity 12mths £15/mth (Unlimited text & web plus 100mins). You could get it for £10/mth without mins.
I actually did it via upgrades as I was curious as to my loyalty reward. But as I wasn't going to stay on my existing contract (none web) then no reward was due.
Hopefully this is a good deal.
Lady said it was in stock and that they didn't sell used versions....i.e. unwrapped
Maybe with some new phones due out soon then the price will drop but as Amazon has this for £389 I'm happy
I queried why there was no loyalty as an existing customer and whether I could have phoned up as a orange etc customer and got this deal and they said yes.
Hope that helps0 -

Yes this is a retentions only deal, you probably need to request a PAC before they will offer this. It's effectively a 50% discount.0 -

300 anytime minutes
unlimited texts
500MB data
free phone
all for £12.50 a month and phone delivered next day through mobiles.co.uk
That seems a very good deal when you also factor Quidco's £50 cashback. For average surfing/email stuff (certainly wouldn't be using iplayer/youtube/etc on it) is 500MB a month more than enough ?NickMidgley wrote: »How about e2Save?
Orange Canary £25 (24 months)
400 Minutes
Unlimited texts
13 Months half price by redemption
£46 quidco
Free handset
Factor in the quidco and the cashback, effective monthly cost is £16.31
I'm not an expert on this kind of thing, but this looks good to me.
This seemed OK til I realised there was no data 'booster' included in that price.0 -

when you think about it the 500mb should be enough or it would be for me, i wouldnt use the 3g when im at work (maybe during lunch) and when im at home id use my wifi to get on the internet so in theory i shouldnt be using much of my 3g allowance, but as ive not got my desire yet i cant say for sure0 -

Unfortunately if you read the smallprint it's actually a redemption deal:
"Any discounted line rental quoted, for example "12 Months Half Price" or "8 Months £1.99 Line Rental" is a redemption offer where Mobiles.co.uk will refund you the difference at set points throughout your contract: Mobiles.co.uk have no way to apply discounts directly on to your monthly bill as only the networks have access to bills. We ask for a copy of your bill simply to prove that you are still paying for the contract, as we could not operate a business where we refunded line rental that was not paid in the first place."
where the refunded line rental may never happen if you forget to send in a bill on time, and the £12.50 is only for the 1st year, 2nd year is full price £25.000 -
I need advice
Not sure whether to get my contract upgrade (trying to get an 18month contract upgrade) I would rather change tariff than keep my own tariff now (its very low) and pay £120 for the handset
Or to leave orange all together and head to tmobile - but then again, the CPW guy I was speaking to yesterday said Tmobile coverage in N.I is up and down, and basically rubbish...
I don't know - but I was planning on heading to orange and CPW on my lunch break and hopefully purchasing.
(the guy in the CPW store said they have the desires in stock - he also said to stick with orange - and was adamant I should stick with them -almost pushy)
what should I do?0 -

Just out of interest- in listening to radio apps, streaming a half of football and general surfing and emails I've used 200MB since 19th June!0
