  • If you are on any kind of contract 02 will sell you a HTC desire outright for £285. No link to your contract. I've got about 20 days to run on my 12 month sim only and have just done this. I'll either carry on my sim only deal or get a voda sim only with the £120 cashback.

Works out cheaper and no long 18 month contract.
  • I ordered last week T-mobile 300 min 300 txt unlimited internet £20 month £29.99 for the handset. From Beepy mobiles. They are out of stock at the moment though so having to wait a few days.

The best deals are from Beepy but as others have said, they have absolutely no stock and haven't had any for weeks. It seems to me the best deal with anyone who has stock is the following:

    Phones4u online
    Orange Panther 35
600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited (750mb fair use) data
    18 months
    £27.50
    Free handset.

    How about e2Save?

    Orange Canary £25 (24 months)
    400 Minutes
    Unlimited texts
13 Months half price by redemption
    £46 quidco
    Free handset

Factor in the quidco and the cashback, effective monthly cost is £16.31

I'm not an expert on this kind of thing, but this looks good to me.

Just off the phone to O2 and they say they dont do this deal. Spoke to 2 different people. The best they offered me was £35 a month and the phone for £49. 900 minutes and unlimited texts etc

More or less, yes. I don't have the exact details of this deal but usually you'll send your bill in every couple of months during a specified period and they'll send you a cheque for the equivalent of half that period's line rental.

The claim periods are usually very specific, and you'll need to double-check the T&Cs and follow the instructions to the letter. If you do, you'll be fine. I've never had any problems.

they do do the deal. they are just being difficult about it. there is a long thread elsewhere about this deal on a few other forums. think there was one about this on the HotUKDeals forums about the £285 desire for existing O2 customers. loads of people have bought this deal. on those forums there is advice on the key words to use when you call and how to negotiate to get this deal. the key is not to say upgrade etc or even PAC code. the key is to say i want to buy a phone out right and am an existing customer and would like to buy the htc desire for 285£ offered to existing customers. say you dont want a new contract as you already have a contract and just want to buy the phone, i am told they had stock. if they refuse then ask to speak to manager or complaints section. best of luck. even existing monthly rolling contacts customeres i think called simplicity have managed to buy at this price on this deal.

extract from HUKD forums. for this O2 deal.
""Phone 202 - press option 2, option 2 and then finally the third option 2 for the 'if you're thinking of leaving o2'
DO NOT CALL SALES OR UPGRADES - YOU MUST CALL THROUGH TO 202, opt 2, opt 2 and opt 2."

"When you get through say you would like to buy a HTC desire for £285 - do not mention your renewal, don't mention upgrades."" people seem to have got this deal on the 19th as well.

This is what I did. No didn't mention upgrading just said i flat out wanted to buy a phone and she asked what I was after. Said i'd heard good things about about the Desire. She said once every 12 months they can do a discounted handset and that I could get it for £285. They had them in stock and even though I ordered at 4pm-ish it was dispatched that day and I had it the next.
