  • Hows this going to work on self-scan?
just back from my local tesco-used the self scan and asked the member of staff supervising the area how to get the points - she was a bit unsure but went and checked and came back and added them on her console.you have to get the member of staff in the self scan area to add them for you.she asked me if they were my own bags which i found rather bizarre as they were all asda or boots bags.

very excited to get my first "green points" today - I've been using my own bags for quite a while now so think maybe I should ask to get them backdated!

I chose the check out with a dippy looking boy so that he wouldn't query my vouchers...however he was dippier than I imagined and got confused with the vouchers and had to call a supervisor for help.

He only credited me with 4 points for my bags and I had to take my 6 bags out of the trolley to prove that I had them as he thought I was trying to get points for unused bags. I'd filled the bags to the brim as usual, next week I'll be less hasty and use more bags!

oh the excitement of clubcard points... a harmless addiction i suppose!

Hiya useful post. Do you know how the 20 points for other containers will work? Is it your own shopping trolley with wheels etc?

    ta

Not sure what you mean? The most points you can get (trolly with wheels or large container) is 3.

If you were refering to my point e, that was a guess for the number of bags I use myself a week ;)

I know! It was a bit of a rhetorical question, really - I couldn't find a 'tongue in cheek' smilie!

I do reuse my bags anyway. I used to use them more - for storage, wrapping, padding etc, until they made them bio-degradable and they disintegrated after about a year leaving mess to be hoovered up in my loft!!!

I'm sure that the going green PR bit is the thing that Tesco are most interested in. Makes them look good, raises their profile, more people shop there etc etc (as if they don't have enough of the market share already).

The smilies here are a bit lacking

I have always reused my bags as well....stopped buying bin liners many years ago!

Yep, the PR does not hurt at all, can not deny that. Stores are being tasked extremely hard to make savings against energy/consumable costs. Biggest single cost after electricty/wages? Carrier bags, believe it or not. Even a small reduction the their use will lead to significant savings (as well as less waste and raw materials). More profit ;) and more to spend next time there are price cuts

How do you know if they gave you the points for re-using?

I re-used some bags today but the checkout assistant never even looked and I am pretty sure I never got any points :(

This is a small step in the right direction.

Personally we always take our own bags as a rule but we also re-use the old shopping bags if we forget.

I am looking forward to getting some more points for doing what i normally do anyway.
