I re-used some bags today but the checkout assistant never even looked and I am pretty sure I never got any points

) the CS assistant said they dont show on the recipt, they get added sperately to statements? Isnt that true?

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I think this move should be applauded, and I'm sure Tesco is losing money by doing so (in the short term anyway) - after all, 1 point is a penny, and I'm sure Tesco doesn't pay anywhere near as much as a penny per bag from the suppliers. And that's before you consider the fact they will also pay out for using non Tesco bags, and not forgetting the clubcard deals ....
I have to agree Tesco has gone downhill though, but I reckon they are becoming victims of their own success. After all, they can only keep their shelves stocked if the suppliers can cope with the ever increasing demand. And it's not just down to the fact that Tesco is growing in relation to other supermarkets, it's also the fact that the population as a whole is becoming far more dependent on readily available foods. After all, how many people here grow their own fruit and veg? When I was a nipper, my father had an allotment always stocked with home grown goodies. Now, it's too much hassle, and not much cheaper to grow your own anyway. The same is true of many other things - I reckon it is cheaper to go and buy a cake than bake one yourself. Of course, the explosion in population (both the normal increase in populous combined with the influx of migrant workers) puts even more strain on the resources available.
Just random musings ....0 -

Whilst on Tesco Express, do the individual stores have control over their own price reductions on BBE dated products.
Am I just being greedy or am I right to think that reducing fresh products that are actually on their BBE date by less than half price is a bit mean on Tescos part. If I am actually going to use the product that day and it is only a bit reduced, then I will buy but if its to stock up the freezer, then I don't, I'd rather buy a fresher product for a few extra pence.arfabrane wrote:. All Tesco stores have control over how much and when their reductions are done, not just Express. Reduction level is based on the quantity you have versus the time of day you find it. A 30% first reduction is the norm.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Eek, not at all - even as a single chap, I still don't have to resort to instant zap-your-own slop-in-a-pot meals. But, in my experience, it isn't things like that that tend to run out in Tesco anyway - it is staple foods - potatoes, onions, bread - all those things that families used to make/grow themselves 30 years ago now seem to sell out at a rate of knots. Of course, another aspect with the population increase is the proportion decrease in arable land as more and more housing is required ...
Yeah, you won't grow spuds very will in a growbag - nice try thoughStick with your tommies and cumbers in them, and you can't go far wrong (unless you have more than one cucumber plant, when you'll be loused out with them, and not letting anyone leave the house without taking at least a couple of cucumber with them!)
Like you, I am limited where I can grow stuff, but a top tip for you - if you nip down to your local garden store you can buy cheap plastic troughs which make ideal salad bars - I do tend to grow my own lettuces (much to the snails delight!), radishes and spring onions in that way - that does work out dirt cheap as I do them all from seed. Growing them this way means you can stick them in a corner of the patio, and once the growing season is over, easily discard the exhausted compost, and stow away the troughs for the next year.
One of my favourite hobbies is trying to germinate seeds from bought produce - most of the time it isn't possible, as they are sterile hybrid strains, but on the odd occassion .... I actually have a Granny Smith apple tree starting out (it's about 3 inches high at the moment, so I don't think I'll be getting any fruit this year), a couple of orange trees (orange as in the fruit, rather than as in the colour) and a lemon tree growing on my kitchen windowsill at the moment. I have no idea what to do with them as I don't have the garden for them, but hey, it's a hobby. I suppose I could try to dwarf them with careful hacking ....
Anyway, I digress (I have a nasty habit of doing that)0 -
i just cant see how this would make me money, regualr bin liners are quite expensive, i havent seen any for less than 4p each, (the value of 1 point in deals) so i think ill just keep using my bags as bin liners, and surely its as bad for the envirnment to make bin liners as it is carrier bags (surely a bit worse coz bin liners are bigger than my bins and carriers fit perfectly) also, theyre handy to take to car boots and re-cycle there coz then you can sell more, hence even more cash for recycling!:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0

c) The first time I am called to the CSD about an argument about how many green points a customer should get, I am going to be having serious words with the cashier - Life is just too short to argue about a couple of points here or there.
But there's always going to be customers who will argue about prices and points, so they will do so even more now. I don't think it's fair to have serious words with a cashier, as people will complain regardless. It's like the CFS vouchers, cashiers are told to lock them in their drawers and treat the vouchers like money. Only give out the exact amount, don't pass them on to the next customer etc etc. Yet when a customer complains they've spent £9.99 and the cashier has been told not to give them a voucher, it's pretty crappy for a manager (or a bloody useless team leader) to walk over and tell them to hand it over as 'life is too short'. Cashiers only do as they're told, you can't tell them off for that.
We used to have a manager who was OBSESSED with carrier bags, told us to be really stingey with them and not to let customers use too many bags. Then when he'd do his shopping he would insist that it was packed for him, all nicely where everything wasn't being squashed, and he also wanted the whole shopping double bagged. Double standards! :rolleyes:0
