Princessa wrote:But there's always going to be customers who will argue about prices and points, so they will do so even more now. I don't think it's fair to have serious words with a cashier, as people will complain regardless. It's like the CFS vouchers, cashiers are told to lock them in their drawers and treat the vouchers like money. Only give out the exact amount, don't pass them on to the next customer etc etc. Yet when a customer complains they've spent £9.99 and the cashier has been told not to give them a voucher, it's pretty crappy for a manager (or a bloody useless team leader) to walk over and tell them to hand it over as 'life is too short'. Cashiers only do as they're told, you can't tell them off for that.
We used to have a manager who was OBSESSED with carrier bags, told us to be really stingey with them and not to let customers use too many bags. Then when he'd do his shopping he would insist that it was packed for him, all nicely where everything wasn't being squashed, and he also wanted the whole shopping double bagged. Double standards!
Perhaps a poor choice of words. Was simply trying to get across that I have no intention of wasting my time or a customers arguing over a handful of CC points. The cashiers in my store have been trianed to use their discretion.Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
best bags are farmsores. large, thick and totally free as many as you like, stock up now before they start charging!0

I was at the checkout yesterday when the Till op said to the lady in front " have you bought your own bags because you now get points for using your own" the lady asked why?,the till op replied "because these bags are costing us a fortune,so we are trying to cut down"-so much for a green policy!.Actually,i just think she was having a bad day & i think MR T is genuine in its green policies, though i suppose it will save money in the long run.0

i have stocked up with tesco carrier bags over the last fortnight, but sometime this week... i will be going to our local resource centre or cheap fabric outlet.... and getting some calico...and making some cheap shopping bags......really easy to make...really strong..... and fairly cheap tp make.....
even though i am getting calico... you could use any strong cotton material.....i will be getting the kids to put designs on my calico bags with fabric paints........
but just another thought about the tescos advert campaign about the points for bags.....i think this is going to be a shop lifters dream.... to walk in with big bags.....and not look out of place, as now normal shoppers are going to be taking all sorts of bags..boxes....etc.. in the store.....might be a bit of a nightmare of tescos.....
going shopping later... so cant wait to get my first green points....:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Tesco's aren't being green in the slightest!!!
They're jus trying to save on forking out for so many bags that are used on a weekly basis. But why are they complaining!?
If they had no customers, then no one would be there to use the bags in the first place! And they'd have less cash!
But noooooo, they're still not satisfied.
Think i'm being cynical? Perhaps, but consider that this is their only option in reducing bag useage without charging (which they simply cannot do...!).
The penny-pinching muppets! The 'Green' issue, I'm afraid', is jus a by product (< I thank yooou!) of their profit-driven mentality.
Shop at Asda - but do reuse your bags..! It's much cheaper there too.
Nuff said. That window's cracked on both sides!!0 -
that's the amount of time we spent a CS to get our points.
Before we started putting our items through we told the nice lady that we had brought our own bags. Upon inspecting our reciept we noticed no addition of points. We asked the nice lady about the points she said she had not be trained yet and did not know how to put them on. Thus 10 minutes spent at CS. (this also involved us watching them talking among themsleves to find out what to do).

Surely it should be the cashier that does the asking about bags etc as it is a Tesco promotion.0 -
Just been to my tesco express and purchased
1 x bag of carrots
1 x pitta breads
1 x magazine
1 x milk
At the checkout, she went to put them in a bag and I said
Me: "Don't worry, I can carry them to my car and get my point"
CA1: "No can do, I can only give you points if you have a bag"
Me: "What...."
CA2:"Its true, manager told me yesterday, we can only give them for re-using bags"
Me: "Well, in that case, I'll have my bag - and please put the magazine in a separate one so it doesn't go all soggy"
CA1: (With tounge in cheek) "That's a bit cheeky"
Me: "Well, if tesco is going to be arsey so am I - I'll bring them next time and collect my points thank you!"

I went to CS today as had not been given my 1 point foy my 1 bag, only bought a few bits. Felt stupid but still 4p in deals, she awaded me 5 points.
From the jist of the staffs conversation the cashiers have been forgetting to add points all day. Guess they will get used to it, but I'll still be checking.0 -
I also felt diddled by the cashier, I have the big fabric Waitrose bags with the wooden dowels in the handles. I've been using them for ages as it means no wasting carriers and less bags to carry indoors. I only go to Tesco to stock up on their cheap cranberry juice - I can get 12 litre packs in my biggest Waitrose bag - that meant I got 1 point for that even though it would have taken 3 or 4 of their crappy bags to carry that much. I managed to put my few other bits into each of the other bags I had on me (just 1 item in 1 bag!) and then claimed another 5 points, as I wheeled out I transferred all the other stuff into 1 bag.
Tesco really don't want to give much away! The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0
