New policy for Tesco stores -
Customers will earn Clubcard points every time they save and reuse bags, instead of using a new Tesco carrier bag, to pack their shopping.
This applies when the customer re-uses:
* A Tesco carrier bag or one from another retailer, fabric shopping bags, freezer bags or any other non-disposable bag
* A wheelie trolley
* Produce boxes or any other boxes
* Or any other form of packing for their shopping
* As they offer help with bag packing, staff will be trained to ask whether customers have their own bags or if not, explain the scheme.
Carrier bags are a standard 1 point but if, for example, a customer fills a Wheelie Trolley they could earn 3 points, while a half full trolley might earn 2 points.

ConfuciusTo be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.0 -
That's a very sensible suggestion actually. Stops the arguements. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
Good for Tesco, it may save them money, but at least they are trying to make us think before we just grab another new bag! Personnally I have been stacking on bags for life to cut on rubbish, but the normal bags I use for my bins, clearing up after the dog, use at school fairs for the stalls, etc. As it is for each shop that you take 5 bags in deals that will be worth 20p, one shop at 5 bags a time becomes £10.40 a year and I know that I am in at least twice a week, with a minimum of 5 bags a time! Money that I would not have had to spend previously.Sarah x0

Supermarkets USED to charge for their carriers back in to good ole days LOL
I actually got a point for just using my rather large handbag back on the 24th JULY at Baldock Tescos.
Also, didnt Sainsburys use to give you a penny for each carrier bag you reused too??!!
Its not a new idea, but it is a good one.
i think its terrible how shops automatically put stuff in bags for you instead of asking if you want one.
Boots has had a policy for YEARS to ask if customers require a bag, not that the majority of staff actually adhere to it though.:hello:0 -
Hmmmm... Although I appreciate that they need to have guidelines, that is just not right...THE_MIDDLEMAN wrote:

A bag for life should not equal 1 normal bag - it should be at least 2 or 3.
A wine carrier for life takes 6 bottles, so shouldn't equal 1 normal bag... When was the last time anyone could put 6 bottles of wine into a poxy little plastic bag?!
Grrrr... I can see problems with this already. :rolleyes:0 -

They did but staff were not very aware of this - 9 times out of 10 they wouldn't0 -
So what if I took an old carrier bag and put each bottle of wine in one and then into my carrier....that's nine points for the bags plus one for the carrier....surely
