i didint no that it uses bandwidth thats why i said the above
ANYTHING you do online is either uploading or downloading.
Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and click 'begin test' and let us know what your results are. Then we will know if you have a poor connection or are being throttled for using too much data at peak times.0 -

It isn't 'downloading' that is measured, it's data usage, whether up or down, streaming or downloading, it all counts towards your bandwidth limit.
If you are not aware of this then more than likely you are being throttled by VM due to going over your limit. Get that sorted and your speed should be OK.
'M' is not a current VM package. If you are on a 20MBps service then you are probably on XL at £20 pm. That should be perfectly fast enough for all your needs. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

There are still people on the old 'M' package though - it sounds like this is the case as it has very harsh traffic management. 'M' is just not available to new customers, thats all.0 -
So perhaps the OP can ask to be moved onto XL at the same price then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

They suggest they have broadband standalone (they say they have a BT phoneline) so it wouldn't be £20/month - it would be £30.
Post 3 says they have a Virgin phone line - or at least I think it does.
The BT line may still be there from before but not connected. Or indeed they may have both - I do as it's just as cheap to have BB with the phone as without.0 -

we used to use a bt dial up so thats why we have the cables alreddy however yes at the moment we are using virgin for the internet0

Having a BT line physically installed doesn't mean it can just be switched on FOC. BT will charge you £125 for a reconnection if there is no dial tone.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
