    news.virginmedia.com

    It will ask you for an email address as you go through - a bit like setting up an email account. You don't even need to use a real one - I often do something like jem16@nospammail.com. You can use a real one if you like.

    Once you get it set up you will have a list of newsgroups. The one you are after is called virginmedia.support.broadband.cable.

    As I had an engineer's visit booked within half an hour of posting I'd rather remain spam free.

    Try again.

    However if you still can't get access try asking for help here;

    http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/

    Virgin staff frequent this forum although not in an official capacity - they may be able to help. Failing that you will have to phone 150 from your cable phone - try before 8pm and you may just get someone in the UK. It will need to be your dad though if you do phone.

    Did you try going to 192.168.100.1 to see what your downstream/upstream power values are yet?

    Plus the things spike asked you to do - he is an ex-NTL engineer so does know what he's talking about so could help.

    I was never asked for power levels. Trace routes and downloads to their games files servers was what was asked for.
