Maybe try again and see if you have better luck with a more helpful member of staff. I looked at Vodafone, which was offering the same package as Orange for £30 but with a free phone and half price line rental for 6 months. I phoned Orange and told them this and they said they would "give me their best offer", which I've detailed in my previous post. If you have no luck, tell them you're thinking of cancelling and you might get put through to their retentions department who have more authority to do deals.
I've been with Orange for about 3 years, so it certain offers might depend on how long you've been a customer.
Last year when I wanted a new phone, a Sony Ericsson P910i, they said it was £129.95 for the upgrade. I told them Vodafone were doing it for £69.95. The first time I did this, no joy. The second time I phoned they offered it me free of charge. It's always worth asking again - good luck!0 -
I noticed the other day that if you take out a £30+ contract with Orange they will give you free broadband.
At the moment, I pay a minimum of £20 a month to O2 for my mobile on contract and £17.99 for my Wanadoo/Orange internet.
I am tied to a contract with O2 til Septemeber.
Is this Orange offer worth anything and does anyone have any idea how long it will run for ? I emailed them explaining my situation and they said I am eligible to take up the free broadband offer but they couldnt say how long the offer would end.

Orange customer services told me that the offer was expected to run indefinitely. It started on 1 June I think, so still early days.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Yes they will be waiting to get the extra £10 per month from those users who exceed their measly 2GB per month usage allowance! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Orange told me that 2GB would give me up to 8 hours surfing a per day.
I also found this info somewhere else:
2GB =
Surfing 200 hours
+
Email photos 120
+
Send / Receive Emails 800
+
Downloading songs 80 songs
+
Online radio 16 hours
Is that correct? Whilst I understand that those using online gaming or internet radio might need more, it's plenty for me. If I ever find I'm using the internet for more than 200 hours and sending more than 800 emails in a month from my home pc, frankly, I think I should get out more!:rotfl:

It may well be enough for your needs but I personally don't see the point of having an upto 8MB ADSL Max connection that is so limited. If you are not sure how much you use, NetMeter (which is free) will give you the figures. I think that it is rather clever marketing to go from 'free' to £10 in one jump, which will catch some out! The faster your connection is, the more that you will find to do in the same time surfing on the net.

Can someone confirm for me then:
I'm paying £30 a month at the moment with Orange. Month 8 of 12
I've just moved house so need Broadband anyhow. What am I signing myself up for??
Is it a new 12mth contract starting from now? Or can I just terminate the Broadband at the end of my initial 12mth??
