    Another question from me.

If I sign upto a contract that is £30 but I get an offer which means I only pay half pice line rental or something - do I still get the free broadband?

You have asked this before and the answer is the same! Any deal that you get from an independent supplier is between you and them (they are giving you some of their commission to get you to go to them) and this does not matter to Orange who are obviously using this deal to attract more customers.

As already said, yes you get the free broadband. The question you might want to know the answer to though is does getting the free broadband affect any "half price rental or something" deal.

And the answer to this is probably because when you sign up for the free broadband your mobile contract is "restarted" by Orange. I don't know exactly what this means but the chances have to be that it will affect your contract with the independent supplier. Or possibly not.

  • It's unlimited subject to fair usage, which is pretty leniant :)

How lenient is "pretty lenient"? This is the one thing that's stopping me from signing up through The Link (Free Samsung D600, PSP and Game, Broadband and half price line rental for first 6 months).

What's unlimited ? Orange broadband default usage limit is 2GB which is flexible to approx double this amount. The Max "unlimited" product (which you pay an extra £10 for) is 20GB or 30GB - I cannot remember. That's pretty low for "unlimited"

This is not the sort of deal you will NOT get a confirmed, in writing, answer for. So nobody will know if it works for a few months. So £30x18 is a bit of a gamble, despite getting free broadband for the same period (or £10x18 if you continually go way over the 2GB monthly allowance).

I'm taking a risk with e2save although the casback deal I've gone for is "only" worth £320. Why? a. their cashbacks are reliable b. you get £35 (or £30) back if you buy through quidco.co.uk and somebody reported (that their CS said) that their cashbacks will NOT be affected if your details with Orange change.

Now looking at the e2save bits of paper I do not see any Orange account number so the only things which e2save are likely to check for when I send them a redemption claim is 1. address and 2. phone number 3. contract start date. I've ported my number but they should be able to handle that (I hope). With respect to contract start date I applied for the free broadband immediatley so in the event that Orange restarts(**) my mobile contract the start dates shouldn't be way out. (**) The reason I discuss the account number is because a contract restart from Orange may change the account number and if e2save know the account number then they may say that the original contract has changed and hence cashbacks will be cancelled.

Anyway, in summary I think e2save are the least risky route. If you are more of a risk taker than me then you can get Orange 18 month contracts from £60 with buymobilephones but the cashback terms are very strict. But I know one person who say they are reliable. So that's £60 for a crappy new phone, 200XNet minutes per month ish and free bradband for 18 months. Somebody will try it. Good luck.

May I ask a slightly more 'technical' question...

I bought a MIMO router recently and wouldn't want to downgrade to the LiveBox.

Do you have to use it to access Orange BB?

I appreciate I would probably lose the VOIP, but could I manually enter settings into my existing router?

    Any other disadvantages?

    Many thanks,

    Jon

I too thought you had to use the livebox to gain access but you do NOT!
The live just gave me problems so i converted back to my 11g3com router and have no problems at all.If you do not need the livebox make sure you tell and that they do not send you one as there is a contract to sign on a hire agreement which will only cost you postage and package if you cancel orange broadband in 18months upon returning it.
Cheap is good free is better.I am not liable for anything i say:beer:
