i wanted to get talk talk but because there's a waiting list and i've heard mixed reviews i contacted my existing broadband supplier orange. i told them that i was thinking of joining talk talk as it was much cheaper than them. the girl put me thru to cancellations. i then asked the guy straight if he could give any offers to keep me with orange. first of all he mentioned the £30 a month phone offer but i declined. then he said i could have broadband max for £17.99, (which i'm paying now) it's usually £27.99. with this it's wireless, unlimited download, 8meg, and all phone calls are free. (abroad reduced rates). all this with no questions asked, i was in the driving seat.

quite happy with that. not as cheap as talk talk but as with them i only pay bt line rental.

he also said he'd alert me if any better deals come along. methinks there's a broadband war about to start!

Ive already read that but really wanted to know more about these evening and weekend calls

    What "evening and weekend calls"?

The evening and weekend calls are available with this Broadband Max package for £27.99 per month i.e. broadband and calls but not including a mobile contract.

    Hi,

I am currently with orange and am thinking of upgrading my phone. Have looked in the various shops and had a query. With Orange you get free broadband on contracts of £30 or more - if you get free line rental for 8 motnhs or something similar woudl you still get free broadband?

There is a current thread regarding the Orange/Wannado offer which I'll merge your thread with in a minute :)
  • Why has this been put in the mobile forums, how about making it a sticky in the mobile and internet forums.

It says on the Orange website:
When you sign up for free broadband you'll receive our Broadband Plus package. This retails for £17.99 so it's a great saving. With this package you can get the following benefits:

    up to 8 Meg speed
free evening and weekend calls (via your broadband connection)
    free wireless connection
free email spam and virus filters
    free parental controls

Click on the tabs above to find out more

But I wouldnt lose our BT account or anything would I - ie, these evening and weekend calls wouldnt appear on the BT bill and would be totally seperate to BT?

The E&W calls would be delivered by VOIP and would not affect your BT account in anyway.Only to reduce your bill perhaps? You also get FREE calls to other Orange Voip users at any time.

I went the buymobilephone.net route and it was a simple and fast process. My only worry was the cashback T&Cs (available at http://www.buymobilephones.net/store/info_terms.ihtml?id=12 para 16.2)

The "voucher" I got was an email and the "claim is initiated by sending us your first four bills within 14 days of the date of the fourth bill". Allowing for post and processing this is a bit tight time wise!

    Another question from me.

If I sign upto a contract that is £30 but I get an offer which means I only pay half pice line rental or something - do I still get the free broadband?
