Just to say that Cahoot refunded me £30 for an unauthorised overdraft after I e-mailed them a letter based on the template provided. This happened within days.
Now I am going after Intelligent Finance for another £30. This will be an interesting one since I closed my account with them earlier this year. Will keep you all posted.
You might think that I am going for peanuts compared to some. But I have been charged only twice in the last 7 years. I am generally very disciplined when it comes to banking.
At least these repayments will pay for a meal with the family.0 -
Thanks for the thread Edinburghlass. Jumping the gun now. If and when the bank do decided to settle, how do you get your money? Do you request a cheque or do they automatically put it straight into your account? In my case it would go back into the account that is already over the overdraft limit.0

On behalf of wishing to remain anonymous family member....
Bank:GE Money (Dorothy Perkins Store Card)
Amount Claimed: £165
Amount Refunded:£165
Basically said family member (18 and financially very naive) was paying late every month and was incurring late fees every month (she wasn't allowing time for payment to leave her bank to get to DP). She had no idea why the charges were there and ignored them as she was too embarrassed to ask. What was a one off purchase became a year of payments and frustration.
One phone call (they gave me all of the late charges over the phone?) and one letter later and they have refunded the full £165 as a "goodwill gesture" and in full settlement.
Now fingers crossed for Lloyds but they are realllly playing hardball.
A huge thank you to everyone here and at the Consumer Action Group website for being so helpful and open. Your hard work and kindness is really appreciated :TThe smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -
Hello ppl, i'm new to this, i'll tell you what i have done so far, i'm £1200 overdrawn, i opened up another bank account, i got intouch with my bank and asked them for 10yrs worth of statements, i got them in 2 envelopes which were all ripped and 1 was open, added up all the charges on the your calculator and the total came to £1930 with interest came to £2408, i wrote to them 2 weeks ago askin for the full amount with interest back, i got a reply this mornin in the post sayin how sorry they are that i feel the bank charges incurred are unfair and they disagree with my view etc etc.
Later on in the letter they make me an offer of £985 and if i would like to accept this offer plz sign and return and they deposit the funds into my account within 7 days.
I feel dissapointed with this, also if i was to accept this offer i would still be overdrawn as they would pay it into my acc and poss terminate my acc so all this could be a waste of time i feel.
I want to try to get close to the full amount.
Can some1 help with this matter?
Regards

Thank you very much everyone for all your help!
I had all the statements from my bank mixed in with all my credit card statements and mail order shopping and receipts/statements etc for *everything* bought online etc so hunted them out and put them in order - and bloody hell wasn't that a job :rotfl:
I put everything down that was order and located all charges that I've been charged [which are nothing compared to what some of you are facing] and the letters are just on the way to be posted via registered mail to them so fingers crossed something happens.
I would never have done it if it wasn't for this board and it's postersThank you everyone.
I made a new years resolution that 07 I'd turn my life around and stick up for myself more and fight for what was right and here we go ^_^ And it's not even Jan yet! :rotfl:0 -
