Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Hello
I would really be grateful if someone could post a reply to my query or email me at **removed** to confirm that it would definitely be worthwhile reclaming by charges.
Basically my situation is as follows:
I have this month been charged a total of £108 in charges for going over my overdraft limit of £1400. This is purely down to interest of £18.04 being applied when i had less than £18 left in the account (in the overdraft). This then resulted in a £28.00 over limit charge being charged, and then two card transactions hit the account, one for £1.69 and one for £13.62, both resulted in £35.00 card misuse charges. Having totalled up all of my transactions, I have not gone over my limit of £1400, the total was -£1398.42. The only reason I have gone over my limit is the £18.04 interest applied by the bank.
My argument is that I have no idea how much the interest is going to be as they do not inform you, nor do I know what day its applied as it was the 20th this month and the 18th last month. I have never received one letter stating that I have gone over my overdraft limit either. If I was to made aware of how much interest was being applied I could ensure there was enough left in the account to cover it. How can I possibly budget for an amount that I am not made aware of.
Thank you in advance to anyone that can reply to me at **removed** or on this bulletin board. I simply want to know if its worth pursuing.
Cheers
Matt

Your bank should have a published rate of interest charged on overdrafts. Why not ask the bank for their current interest rate charges? How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Happy New Year!!! Supposed to be in court 3/1/07, they offered a defence etc but never submitted any papers to the court. Just checked the account and they have settled in full. I would urge everybody to do this, stick to your guns and beat the giant!0 -
Hi,
How does the interest calculator work. If I put £1 of charges. It calculates -11p.
Thanks

I have recently taken Barclays to the small claims court to reclaim unfair bank charges using the template from this site. As expected, Barclays delayed the full 14 days before acknowledging the claim but they have now entered a defence, disputing the whole amount I have claimed for. I followed the script to the letter and am fairly confident the claim was accurate. Has anyone experienced this before and if so, what did the defence/claim lead to? Many thanks.0

Bank:- Natwest
Amount claimed:- £1120.00
Amount refunded:- £1120.00
I used the link on this site to the Consumer Action Group and used their template letters to get my last 6 years' worth of bank statements to get the total charges figure, then their Letter Before Action (LBA). I sent the LBA by special delivery on 19/12 and today I got a letter saying they'll refund the charges but admit no liability! It was all much easier than I expected!:T0 -
My brother - A & L- claimed £3000, offered £1200 after 2nd letter
My son - RBS - claimed £1935 received £1935 in response to first letter sent 6th December, received offer 21st December.
My daughter - RBS - claimed £1300, first letter ignored, 2nd letter refused, was told to 'do what you have to do' when she queried by telephone. Will be sending Moneyclaim in January
Me - First Direct Visa - claimed £165, refused after first letter, they have until 5th January to respond to second letter
Me - First Direct current a/c - claimed £1011, only had the usual, 'we are looking into it' letter but should get something after the holidays. Told them I would also be claiming any charges accrued/applied in the interim, which there have been.
I have another two cards to set in motion which I will be doing after the holiday. I have also told everyone I know who might benefit. I think I'll be taking on my nephew's charges next.
Will keep you posted!
