Looks Like most of your debt has been caused by the financial institutions. I wonder how many of us are suffering in the same way. Something needs to be done about this, its unfair that we have to go through the process of claiming back what is ours already, and what has probably got most of us into debt in the first place. It is time that financial institutions realised that people on a budget cannot afford to be charged like this and they should start to get they profits from the people who actually have plently of money and wouldn't miss it like we do.....

If you are successful looks like you will be well on target for being debt free well before 2009.... good luck. I know what its like to be in debt and getting free is the best feeling.

  • Can I ask a question?
I know it says for England we can ask for 6 years worth of charges to be repaid but does this mean 6 years to the date of claiming, from the tax year of April or from the beginning of 2000?
I am looking to claim back from Barclays charges starting on the 21st Jan 2000 upto 26th June 2003. Total charges for that period are £335.00, plus interest of £158.18 which totals £493.18. I sent the letter to Barclays in November and they sent a letter today offering a goodwill gesture of £150.00. If the charges I can claim for are only from Nov 2000 until now then that would only total £140.00 plus interest, in this case I would be better to accept their offer or can I claim from the beginning of 2000.
Really dont want to push my luck and lose out.........can anyone help me please?

  • Newbie question please.

I am about to start reclaiming charges from my bank, and it seems it could be a lengthy and time-consuming process.

My question is: can I reasonably claim for my time involved? Being a professional, I would like to charge at least £100/hr :-)

    Thanks

claimed £459.00 plus £80.00 Court Costs.
Sent first two letters requesting charges and received standard refusal letter which included threats of counterclaims if I persisted. Reading success stories on this site gave me the courage to next step (LBA) on this I was sent a cheque for £230.00 which I returned and asked for full amount, again they refused so I went to moneyclaimonline using the templates provided. a few days later got a letter of acknowledgement of claim and on the same day an offer to settle of the full amount £539.00
