  • Turns out I wasn't such a bad boy after all!!! Only £50 unclaimed. Got refunded through request via internet banking.

P.S. HSBC didn't charge me a thing when I requested the wodge of statement printouts over the last 6 years, despite me including a cheque for a tenner.

Good luck to the rest of ya!!!

Any loan should be a different agreement with your bank.
  • I have recently taken Barclays to the small claims court to reclaim unfair bank charges using the template from this site. As expected, Barclays delayed the full 14 days before acknowledging the claim but they have now entered a defence, disputing the whole amount I have claimed for. I followed the script to the letter and am fairly confident the claim was accurate. Has anyone experienced this before and if so, what did the defence/claim lead to? Many thanks.

Read the Barclays thread and you'll find people there who report that Barclays will enter a defence but then make an offer before it actually goes to court.
  • Bank - Alliance and Leicester
    Amount Claimed - £134.50
    Amount received - £134.50
The story - this was the second time I had taken them to court. Initially I only claimed for charges raised whilst I was on holiday this year and not on top of things, but I got so annoyed with their response to my request for repayment of charges that I went back over the past 4 years that I have been with them and put in a further claim, which they have also paid, but not before I had to ask the court for judgement in default.

They have now written to me to tell me that since I obviously don't agree with their terms and conditions, I can take my business else where. This has also incurred charges as my employer was very efficient and managed to pay my December wage into my new current account (with IF) thereby leaving my old account overdrawn!!! So I'll be taking them to court one last time. They have also only allowed me a calander month to move all my direct debits and standing orders, which I am worried won't be enough, particularly as Xmas and New Year means that there are a lot of bank holidays.

Still, it worked, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
  • Any comments to my last post, would be most appriciated.

I know it's a bit long, I'd make you a cup of tea if it would help.

    Cheers
  • Can anybody confirm registered address for yorkshire bank for use when actioning the claim on moneyclaim website please?

  • I sent the letter to Barclays asking for my money back which is £405 plus interest of £52.36. They have replied saying they will offer me £200 as a goodwill gesture. Should I take it or push for the full amount?

Your choice. If you continue your claim, you will likely get the full amount back.

I personally wouldn't settle for only half the claim.
