after 6 weeks barclays offered £2000 to end the dispute not bad but they charged me £5158.25(with intrest) so went to swansea county court as i couldn't afford court fees.
fees not charged and papers issued today 19 days to go( 5 to be served and 14 for reply)
funny how when i mentioned to the guy from barclays that if i took out a loan for £5000 and only offered to pay £2000 they would take me to court , he replied "yes i see where your coming from however i am only authorised to a limit of £2000 the legal department deals with those above"
with only christmas around the corner i would have settled for £3000 and i did tell him this and he even said that i was trying to compromise however his hand were tied.
lets see what happens now.0 -
Hi there
I have received £1,695 back from the Bank of Scotland - BOS was a good bank to deal with until it became HBOS. It is now DREADFUL! Good luck to others in their fight for justice with these institutions.

tripcode wrote:A basic question. Would the 'reclaim bank charges approach' only work with currently open accounts? or could you attempt to reclaim charges for accounts that you had have in the past but are now closed?
you can claim on closed accounts too. Good luck0 -

hi there,
i am due to start court proceedings with Abbey next week - but like you i simply cannot afford the court fees - how did you get round not paying them? sorry if it is a dumb question but desperate for my money back from them and was fearing that i wouldn't be able to do it for a couple of months until i had got the court fees together...0 -
Just keeping you updated as promised! I'm following Martin's step by step guide and using templates.
Gave the bank 15 days to respond after LBA, no response. Filed through MCOL last night and checking the site today the claim is now "issued". They have 14 days to defend.
Did have a few problems with the calculator. I couldn't print it a second time (luckily I printed and photocopied the original) and I also couldn't add on this month's charges. I reverted back to the CAG spreadsheet and used that to calculate.
So just a case of sitting and waiting now, I think....
Cazziecazziebo wrote:I sent off the Prelim letter last week - day it was launched - together with a print off from the Charges Calculator. Had a very quick response back and sent off the Letter before action today (as per new template). However, i couldn't take a second print from the calculator, although I have it saved. Luckily I'd taken a copy last week so photocopied these and posted off.
Assuming it's not just me, it would be useful if multiple prints could be taken. (The CAG ones can be saved as they are just excel spreadsheets)
Recorded delivery, so they have 7 days to reply and then I'm moving to MCOL
Keep you informed - but this process does seem very straightforward and easy, and I find the letters are simpler than the CAG templates.
Keep you all informed how I get on - good luck everyone else who are following this path!

i went into the local courts and filled out an income and expediture form for exemption of the fees its called a remission and you need to fill out form ex160 and it gets reviewed by the court manager and if they can see it will cause financial hardship they will not charge you0 -
Does anyone know how I can change a claim I did against HSBC on MoneyClaim? Basically I done the figures wrong and need to change the claim.
