Bank : Lloyds/Tsb
Amount claimed : £1572.29
Amount awarded : £1216.63 (£1366.63 if you count recent dips into unauthorised overdraft!!)
Sent first letter off 12th March.Second was 14 days later. Then got letter saying gold account not been set up correctly so refunding my account with £466.63.Wrote saying I would accept this as part payment but still intend to get rest through court process.
I also sent letter asking that £90 due to be taken from my account for charges issued during March be cancelled as I believe these to be unfair charges.Initially they took these charges but refunded them 21st May as a "gesture of goodwill".
Then on Saturday another letter from bank saying they had looked into my complaint and as another "goodwill gesture" they are prepared to repay my account with £750.Also said they would cancel any recent charges due to come from my account (another £60 for May)
£355 short of my original claim I know ,but still fruitful enough earnings for the sake of a bit of research and few letters fired across thieir bows.
The new kick !!! pc is but weeks away0 -

Thanks to Martin Lewis :money: , his initiative and this fantastic site and its clever people :A ... I have today received an offer from my bank, which I will accept.
Thank you all very much for all your help!!!
Story: HSBC: claimed GBP 934, add interest GBP 167, overall claim GBP 1102 on March 22nd 2007.
I made a little mistake and claimed one item that was already refunded before (GBP 36)... making a total of GBP 898...
HSBC offered me 808 today ... they say they won't pay interest (which I am sure they would, if I took it further now).
Overall it is a bit short of what I hoped for, but for the little bit less hassle that my acceptance provides ... and as HSBC has been fair to me in other circumstances before ... I'll take the money and run ... (got nothing to do with my wife standing behind me, nagging "take it! take it!");)
I wrote the two first letters only, both normal first class. I asked them to reply within 2 weeks in the second as in the template. They aknowledged the receipt but totally ignored the 2 weeks limit. I left them more time as I read in previous messages on this board that HSBC claims to are allowed 8 weeks. Wasn't too bothered and waited. Now after 8 weeks of waiting ... with no hassle, just a friendly letter ... result!
Thanks to everybody again on this site. You are all wonderful!
I wish Kev from Birmingham all the best in his appeal (he goes for it, isn't he?).
Take care, X :rotfl:0 -

Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed:£1993
Amount they paid:£2034
The story: It took weeks and many emails, but finally they paid out.
I sent them the letter in March and never received a response, so i emailed them. They said they had sent anacknowledgement (which i didn't get) saying it would take upto 8 weeks to get back to me. A
After 8 weeks I still hadn't had a response so i emailed them (again!) and finally on Saturday ( nearly 9.5 weeks after the original letter) I got a letter offering me £2034!
I hadn't told my parents i was going for the money as I thought i wouldn't get anything, but when i got the letter I was so excited I told them and they are now going to try and reclaim their charges as they hadn't done in the past cos they thought it was pointless!
Thanks Martin :money:

:T :T Story: Applied for £3038.00 in charges over the last 6 years. Sent my first letter on the 19th March 2007. Told by HSBC staff that it had been put on the computer system on the 23rd of March and that they had 8 weeks from that dated to investigate the claim. My 8 weeks were up on the 18th May 2007 and i had not heard anything from them, so i rang the telephone number at LEEDS. Lovely girl answered and told me that i had a offer letter in the post that evening. What a FIB!!! 22nd May 2007 still no letter so i emailed them. They sent me an email saying an offer had been sent out for £2697.30 (could have rounded it up for me). Recieved the offer on the 23rd May 2007 a little late but wotrth waiting for. Just waiting for the cheque or money to be put into my account and then holiday here i come....
Hang in there to everybody who is still waiting don't let them win we have to all stick together and get our money back!!!!:T :T
Thanks Martin if i had not seen you on GMTV then i would be have lost this money forever!!!!0 -
:rotfl: Bank: Barclays
Amount Reclaimed:£1710
Amount they paid:£1230
The story: I went through this process for my son and wrote his letters for him. No problem with the bank they offerred £1230. He was a little nervous of refusing in the light of the recent court case when the judge ruled in favour of the bank. He was very happy with the £1230 as he says that the bank was entitled to charge him something so he was happy for them to keep the £480.
Thank you for all your advice.:rotfl:0 -
Bank: HALIFAX
Amount claimed:2397
Amount paid out: 2300
I sent the request letter for statements in Febuary and received them in March. 19th March sent the first letter asking for charges back totalling 2397 without interest. I sent the letter recorded delivery and after 7 days I phoned to make sure they had received it. Hakifax denied even receiving the letter. So I sent them a fax which included the letter and list of charges as well as proof of recorded delivery. About a week later I received the standard "We are looking into your complaint But have 8 wks to comply.".
I decided to wait the 8wks they give which meant I should get a reply by 23rd May. Well On exactly the 23rd May I received the standard "we are satisfied our charges are correct etc etc". I then the same day phoned the number on top of the letter and said I was not happy with the outcome. The lady on the phone said she would get the complaint re-investigated but could not say how long it would take, well 3 days after this I received an offer letter of 1197. Sooooo I phoned the number on top of the letter again to be greeted with a nice young man who asked what I would accept I said if you give me 2300 I will not take it to court, he then immediately agreed and said it can take upto 14 days to go into my account, but they are working a bit quicker than this now, that was last Tuesday and im pleased to say that today my account is 2300 better off. OMG I can't beleive I did it. It is Half Term this week so I will be takking the kids out for something special. I still cant beleive it, When I checked my account online all it says is CASH DEPOSIT 2300 .
Thankyou to every-one on this site, I would not have done it without any of your help. I will still be visiting the site as Im doing my sisters now and I regularly visit the freebies site
So too all you people still going, DONT GIVE UP it will work out in the end. I thought id never get to the end and here I am 2300 better off.
GOODLUCK TO YOU ALL0 -
Bank: Barclays
Amount claimed: £363
Amount paid: £250
Could have turned it down and pushed them for the full amount, but it felt like money for nothing that I would never have seen again anyway, and accepted the offer. I'd also just paid out £250 they day before on my season tickets for me and my daughter the day before, so basically I'm not paying anything to watch a season of football next yeat. Cheers Barclays. :beer:Only when the last tree has died

will we realise we cannot eat money0 -
They have just paid me my charges back £1,200, £100 less than what I was claiming, but I'm not going to argue. Thanks for everything:rotfl:0
