  • Bank: HSBC
    Amount Reclaimed:£3546.50 plus £780.50 interest
    Amount they paid:£3166.00

    10 February - requested statements, enclosed £10.00
5 March - started receiving batches of statements + return of £10.00 cheque
18 March - sent letter requesting refund of £3546.50 plus £780.50 interest
27 March - received letter saying 'we are looking into it'
5 April - sent letter before court

Decided to wait until 8 weeks (the time they told me they legally had to reply to me) was up. Made couple of calls to HSBC Customer Services during May.

25 May - received letter saying they didn't have to do this but here you go here's £3166.00. Signed the agreement and just waiting for the money to be credited to my account.

Thanks so much to Martin for this fantastic site and everyone who has posted positive information - if it wasn't for you lot I wouldn't have gone through this and I can't believe I have got so much money back - less a bit for not managing my account which I accept.:T

Although this is my first post I have been reading the site for ages.

Reclaimed Natwest currant charges for both me & OH.

Total Claimed: £3860 (between the 2 acounts)
    Total awarded : £3500

Our claims went really smoothly, took 6 weeks in total from first letter writen asking for copy of charges. Although the offer is £350 lower than we were claiming we have accepted it as we would rather have the money immediatly than wait.

Having said that, I wonder how long it will it will be before we actually see the money??
  • Bank: NatwestAmount Claimed: £5937Amount Paid: £5937

Only sent them the first letter after being advised to by a lovely guy at my branch, he said 'think of it as a savings account, we've helped you out really!'

Wasn't going to bother until I realised how much they actually owed me I was gobbed smacked! I have never been great with money but when you work it out for every year I worked they took £1000! Be brave and ask for it back!!

:D:D:D:D:D I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Martin and everyone else on this site who are so helpful and encouraging....

This morning I received a letter from the Natwest offering me the full amount I had claimed for, £4936.....

I could not believe it and I am so happy......

I started the claim on 23rd Feb when I requested my statements, so I dont think its taken too long....

Now if only Lloyds would do something with both the claims with the small claims court......!!!!!!!!!

    Bank: Halifax (Boooo!)
    Claimed: £29
    Received: £297

YAY!!!! Finally after 5 months of fighting we've won! They acknowledged the claim, but said that purely on comercial basis, it will cost them too much to defend the claim and they are unlikely to be able to recover these costs. For that reason, but without admission of liability (whatever that means!!), they reimbursed the whole amount plus interest. They also reimburse the court fee that I had to pay to file the claim. YAY, we beat them. However its not over yet. We will be charged £39 fee and £28 for going into overdraft (we dont use that acc anymore). Im just soooooo pleased.
IT WORKED!!!! THANX MARTIN FOR ALL THE GREAT ADVICE AND GIVING US PEOPLE THAT GET WALKED OVER THE CONFEDENCE TO DO IT!!!

    Amount they paid: £475
    The story:
They lost my letter requesting statements but when I called after the alloted time they apologised profusely and sent them by courier twice. I called them after they did not answer the first letter (after about 5 weeks when 2 weeks is their timeframe). I called again and was told to re-send as they had no record, which I did. Mysteriously quickly received a response, admitting no liability, offering me £475 which I accepted. Note - you should send to Wakefield NOT Canary Wharf address (HSBC parent) and you should chase.
