  • Bank: Barclays
    Claimed: £960
    Received: £745

Simply sent 2 letters and was sent back an offer as 'good will gesture'.

Am currently in small claims court with 2 more Barclays accounts and a Lloyds TSB account. Am waiting for them to 'defend' or I win by 'judgement by default'. Will update when I know!

    Bank: NATWEST
    Amount Reclaimed: £3,957.35
    Amount they paid:£3,952.00
The story: Sent 1st letter in Feb, 2nd letter in March and 3rd letter in April. Received offer letter in May after loads of phone calls - not bad though, am over the moon - keep on at them, they give in in the end. Thanks to Martin for all his help and advice.
  • Bank: HSBC
    Amount Reclaimed: £1800 (including interest)
    Amount they paid: £1547

Fantastic result. Got as far as threatening court proceedings (letter 3) before an offer was made which was for all charges excluding interest.

My advice - Do it now!!!!

claimed £950 from halifax and they paid in full once i had submitted a court claim.
  • 1st account claimed £466.91 including interest.
2nd account claimed £776.46 including interest.

Downloaded statements from internet banking, Sent standard first letter but instead of the threat of court i put the threat of reporting them to the financial obudsman. Got two standard 'NO' letters back, sent a second letter for each account, it was ignored. Sent a third letter for each account and informed them that I would be reporting them to the financial obudsman. Downloaded complaint forms form the Finanical Obudsman Website. Sent all letters and forms recorded delivery, recieved reply form bank after five days offering a goodwill gesture of £750 and two days later another goodwill gesture of £425. That will do me! Whoopeee!!! Not going to argue for another hundred quid. Phoned Finanical Obudsman to cancel complaint. Much less nerve strangling than going to court of forking out any cash.

Congratulations to everyone who has won and Good luck to any one wanting to claim but it doesnt take that much effort. So go on. XxX

Amount claimed: £250 plus £30 court fee
Amount settled: £250 plus £30 court fee

Received court date of 18 June (my birthday) and sent off my court bundle to all parties. Felt a bit negative but this morning received letter from banks solicitors saying a personal cheque will be sent in next 7-10 working days. I closed my account about a year ago.

I am really pleased with this outcome and thank you to this site for helping me.

Next one is Abbey and have a court date for 4 July - here's hoping its good news again.

After all the help on this site:

    Bank: LLYODS TSB
    Amount Reclaimed:£3895
Amount they paid: £3895 plus £120 court cost.
    The story:

Sent first letter - came back saying i signed T&cs so tough, Sent second letter saying unlawful and not agreeing with them whole amount in 14 days or ill take to court. After 14 days no response. Phone LLyods who on phone said that my letter was being investigated still so i advised that i would confirm in a final letter that date i wanted a reply to or court procedures starting. No reply from LLyods. Started money claim aftyer 14 days. After the legal 14 days after starting the procedure there was no response from llyods so i filed for a judgement. within 24 hours judgement passed. Give 14 days and on day 13 the money was in my account!! WOOHOOO
