  • hi,i have just recieved £1653.84 including interest and court costs from lloyds tsb it was a long wait but well worth it,i sent all the letters of the website and didnt even get one response from the bank i ended up starting court proceedings with moneyclaim and ended up at getting judgement against the bank,i was about to start a warrant when i looked at my account yesterday 25/5/07 and the money was sitting there,
my advice is be patient, they never responded to any of the letters or even the court, from start to finish it took three months.
    good luck.
  • First Direct/HSBC sent me a letter within 2 days offering me a refund of £526 from a requested refund of £650.
I am happy with this and quite shocked it only took a couple of days! :)

If you havn't done so already get claiming!
  • I have today received a letter from A&L:

Having started court process on MCOL, they acknowledged the claim technically giving them 28 days to lodge a defence (which I was expecting them to do). Then blow me they have settled my claim in full including interest and MCOL court fees totalling £202.60.

Absolutely chuffed and shows that although A&L are taking a difficult stance it is possible to win! :-)

    Bank: Cooperative Bank (Credit Card)
    Amount Reclaimed:£430.85 (originally)
    Amount they paid: £466.52
    The story:
They paid £310 as a good will gesture. So I issued a court claim against them for the remaining amount + interest + court fees. They put in an acknowledgement saying they would defend the whole amount - received a letter today saying they'd refund the remaining amount to my credit card! :T

Bank: Cooperative Bank (Closee Current Account)
    Amount Reclaimed:£579.65(originally)
    Amount they paid: £616.07
    The story:
They paid £310 as a good will gesture. So I issued a court claim against them for the remaining amount + interest + court fees. They put in an acknowledgement saying they would defend the whole amount - received a cheque in the post today for the remaining amount! :T

It takes some time, but it is worth it!
  • Bank: First Direct
Claimed: £143.83 (£105 charges plus interest)
    Paid: £105

Rentonc who posted earlier today is quite right - FD are paying up within 2 days! I wrote May 22 claiming charges and interest. They replied May 24 offering refund of charges but accepting no liability ('without prejudice'). I'm going to accept their offer as reckon it is fair and reasonable. It is certainly worth the time spent on this: 30 minutes or so to go through bank statements, write the letter, lick the stamp and post it. 20 minutes to register on MoneySavingExpert site, write this and say THANK YOU MARTIN and ALL OTHERS.

In April this year decided to go for it and opened an online bank account in case Barclays closed me down.
Wrote to them on 23/4/07 - got holding reply 3rd May saying looking into this and may take 4 weeks
Got a letter this morning offering me £895!!

I AM SOOOOO CHUFFED ... COS THOUGHT NAAAH I WONT BE SUCCESSFUL .... THE THOUGHT OF COURSE I WONT IF I DONT TRY --- JOB DONE . I WILL ACCEPT

Thank you Martin and the contributors who spurred me on :-)

    regards

    MY FIRST SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never thought it would happen to me. Applied to First Direct in April (17th) asking for statements, after several reminder by phone and email and follow up letters. I received them Friday 18th May. Added up they amount to £2100. Sent them off and got an offer letter today of £1623. Am going to take it - feel it is a very fair offer.

Thanks FD for making this so easy and speedy- appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Bank : HSBC

    Claimed : £2446.71 (including interest)
    Paid : £1780

This is absolutely fantastic news . It took me 1 month to get all my bank statements, and this is the first letter I have had from them which has taken about 2 months to respond.

I know its quite a big differance, having said that I haven`t argued with them, haven`t gone through any court process, I can do with the money right now and finally I guess they can earn a little for my money missmanagement.

This website is absolutley fantastic and has been a great help, followed it to the letter. Thanks Martin. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
