Bank: HSBC plc
Amount Reclaimed: £2429.50
Amount they paid: £2254.05
The story:
I used the templates from this site, only sent the reclaim one back on 19th March, they replied saying they were investigating it, got letter today offering me above, which, of course, I accepted.
So irrespective of recent court case where courts decided for Lloyds Bank, the rest are still offering to pay up, my bank quoted as follows 'If your claim for a refund proceeded to Court, we therefore believe we would successfully resist any legal challange in relation to these fees. We are, however, mindful of the management time and irrecoverable legal costs that may be incurred in relation to such a claim. For those commercial reasons alone and without any admission of liability whatsoever, we are prepared to make a payment to you for the sum of £ 2,254.05 in full and final settlement of this matter.0 -
Bank - Barclays
Amount Claimed - Somewhere around £1,100 (going back about 8 years tho..)
Amount Offered - £570
I accepted their offer......
I only wrote them one letter and I didn't even have to threaten!!!!
Yes I could go on to the next stage but I thought - what the heck, I'm much better off now than in April when I started this so I accepted. They said that they would credit it into my current account within 10 working days.
:j
My son has done the same with Abbey - I'll post his response on here, interestingly he hasn't heard yet and we wrote his letter first!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wonderful site - you should charge 1/2% commission on all successful reclaims by using your site/letter templates!!!!!

Bank: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £5360.49
Amount they paid: £5360.49
The story: started process back in november last year - followed instructions on here step by step. Even got a court date for June 12th. Had to send in the massive (and stressful!) court bundle. Had a few offers in the whole period from hsbc but never accepted any of them as they were not for the full amount - had final settlement offer for full amount last thursday, sent acceptance off on friday and the money was in my bank yesterday! less than a week... very impressed!
thanks to this site i have a bit of money behind me now and some to treat myself and my family which is long overdue! lol :TApril 2014: A CAR!!!!!! :j 60th Anniversary Edition of Playboy mag signed by Hugh Hefner/Family pass to Twinlakes Family Theme Park/Rio 2 Goodies/£15 Promod Voucher/Nivea Sensitive Prize pack/John Frieda Cosmetic bag and bits/Tickets to New Kids On The Block + Meet and Greet0 -
Bank Barclays
Amout Claimed 3,549.47
Amount received - coming soon
Started this in December of last year - did all the usuall waiting around for bank statement and general fob off letters. Sent to MCOL 12/03/07 and barclays left it to the last minute, then decided decided to defend with the usual blurb (worried me at the time though). I was told by courts not to bother entering an allocation questionaire and got a letter Tuesday :T stating that -
The defence has been struck out due to abuse of process
The claiment may enter judgement
Called the courts to get the paperwork to enter judgement and will be sending off shortly.
As defence was kicked out thought i would have another go on the bank charges roundabout and sort out my other account with barclays too!!
For all those still tied up in this process i would urge you to stick to your guns and go for the whole amount.
PS - Many many thanks to this site for advice and template forms etc. It has been comforting to read about people having the same problems i was and reassuring to see that more and more people have done this.:T :T0 -
Bank - Lloyds TSB
Amount - £3861.62 Including costs.
Went to MCO, bank didn't defend so judgement awarded in my favour on the 16th of May.
Today £3861.62 was paid into my account! Since the last date claimed for a further £520 has been taken, speaking to the bank directly they are going to see about repaying it without me having to go to MCO again.... Watch this space.
Thanks to Martin and team for this fantastic resource, I am now well on the way to being debt free!0 -
Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £387
Amount they paid: £387 (inc Interest and £50 court fee)
Claimed for my cousin again!! Sent them the first 2 letters from this site and they only offered half of the amount that I asked for. Went to moneyclaim online and paid up just before the end of the 28 days.
Thats 3 out of 3 victories. Once again, thanks for all the info and help from this website.

Reclaimed bank charges from the Woolwich.
Total Charges £2300
Total Repaid £2530 :j
Total Time 8 weeks
8 weeks and 2 phone calls was all it took, i was expecting a long haul in this especially regarding the recent judgements and wondering how it would affect the claim. So the srtory in short is:
1. Phoned woolwich cutomer service to ask for list of bank charges. Told they would be posted within 28 days.
2. 2 days letter received the standard 'sorry etc' letter.
3. 28 days to thedate list of carges came through total £3300
4. Phoned the woolwich customer services same day and asked to reclaim charges as they were unfair. The lady said thats was fine and i should get a letter within the next 28 days with and offer. If that offer was declined then i would have to take it further, i guess she meant court action and there would not be room for negotiation.
5. 28 days to the date a letter with an offer of £2530 arrived, the offer was a good will gesture and not admittance etc. Also was a return slip which i had to sign along with a prepaid envelope. Payment would be in account 10 working days on receipt of this letter.
I have accepted this offer although it is short of £800 mainly because i have had numerous charges returned in the past 6 years and if i take into consideration an amount for an acceptable charge (£2.50) i decided this was a fair offer.
I can't really complain about any hassle it has been fairly stress free all the way.
So keep going all of you, you will get your money back in the end.
Lastly thanks to all at this site it has been a wealth of help, support and guidance.
Thanks :T :rotfl:0 -
Bank : Lloyds TSB
Amount : £4180.22 including interest
The story so far after receiving the copy statements from them!
Letter claiming £4280.22 including interest - 27 April 07
Form letter from them rejecting claim - 9 May 07
LBA from me - 11 May 07
No response so far and I have already set up and saved the Small Claims Court papers on line. If there is no response in the post tomorrow I will issue and see what happens! Good to see LTSB are still paying out despite the (spurious) win they had recently! I will keep you all posted but I can't see any reason to shy away from claiming against Lloyds TSB at all!

BANK: A&L
AMOUNT RECLAIMED: £122.61
AMOUNT PAID: £152.61 (£30 court fees)
A&L paid up shortly after I started court proceedings although they also say they will be contacting me to discuss my account with them as I no longer accept their terms and conditions. Luckily I followed Martins instructions to a Tee and have set up a parachute account.
Thank you M.L. The windfall will go towards my new LCD Telly!0
