Interesting development this morning. Got a letter from HSBC offering, "without predjudice", £1477.80 of the £1642 i'm claiming. . I sign off and i get the money in 2 weeks!
Hadn't even filed in court against them yet, and they are offering a settlement. Guess they know they wouldn't win. I think the case above is a one off. If you are thinking about doing it, then stop thinking and just do it.0 -
Barclays
Claimed £2200 (including interest)

From National Westminster
Claimed 1345
Offered 1345
Had to take them court, the offer came in 2 days before closing court date.
They would not pay legal fees, still never mind!
Easy Process thank you.0 -

Received: £695
First offered of £590 by return of post. I rejected this and was then offered £695 by return post. I accepted this and the money was in my account within 2 days! This just took over a week in all - amazing!!0 -
I have just reclaimed £4500 from hsbc.
I sent a letter and cheque asking for my bank statements, and they didnt charge me. how nice, then i wrote the letter asking for the chrges totalling£5571.00 and they replied 8 weeks lter saying they were perfectly legal and would not be refunding any monies.
I then sent the second letter giving them 14 days to refund the money otherwise i will take legal action. I also included that should they wish to settle quickly i would accept £4500 which they agreed to. Great it has only cost me a couple of stamps and ten minutes of my time if you are in doubt give it a go what have you got to lose.
thanks martin great advice:0 -
Bank: Hlaifax
Amount Reclaimed: £4016.00
Amount Paid: £3507.00
Sent them 1st letter. Replied with will here from us in a few weeks. After a few weeks, recieved letter saying they were paying £3507.00 straight into my account. Not arguing with that amount. Excellent.0 -
I got a letter this morning offering me the full amount of £2887 I asked for. Started the process in January. Signed the letter to send back but not sure when the money will be transferred to my account.
Thanks to all the useful advice on this site!

Had a phone call from DG Solicitors, Birmingham, lawyers for First Direct. The court had sent me a letter letter saying they (D G )were defending the action against First Direct. I was then advised by the County Court at Truro that they were sending out a questionnaire.
I then got worried and started to organise a court bundle and pay fees etc. Bu**er me I then had this phone call from First Direct solicitors saying they would pay all my costs, the money I asked for plus interest and all WITHOUT PREJUDICE. :j Funny old world ain't it.0 -
Barclays

I had to take them to County Court as they contested claim. Then THAT judgement in the banks' favour! BUT they settled with a week to go0
